I thought I was going for a wine tasting… And then I remembered how dangerous that can be 😉🍷 Because afternoons like these never end with just a few tasting notes...

You leave with:
✨ new discoveries
✨ wines you suddenly want to find again
✨ and a mental list of bottles growing much faster than expected 😄

Last Friday with ARVI was exactly that.

Great French wines.
Great people.
And one of those moments where you go from:

"I'll taste just a little..."

to:

"Wait… can I try that one again?" 😄

What I always love during tastings is how every bottle tells a different story.

One wine surprises you.
One confirms something you thought you knew.
And one completely changes your expectations.

A big thank you to @arvi_wines for such a beautiful afternoon of tasting and sharing.

✨ Wine is never only about what’s in the glass.

Sometimes it's also about the moments that happen around it.

🇺🇸Stepping into what is widely considered Switzerland’s true “wine bank” is an experience in itself. Spending the afternoon there, surrounded by endless shelves of legendary and prestigious bottles for an exclusive tasting of French wines, took it to a whole new level.
An intimate, cozy, and deeply elegant atmosphere, where every tasting station felt like a journey through winemaking history. Having the chance to chat directly with the producers in such a captivating setting is a true privilege.
A huge thank you to ARVI for opening the doors to this extraordinary vault.

🇦🇺 Barossa power, carved from old vines.
There are wines that speak.
And there are wines that resonate like a low, steady bass note in a cathedral of stone.
Torbreck – The Laird 2017 is not subtle. It is monumental.
100% Shiraz from ancient Barossa vines, grown on some of the oldest ungrafted material in Australia. Low yields. Relentless selection. Nothing accidental.
In the glass, it moves like ink. Dense blackberry and black plum form the core, but what makes it unforgettable is the darker register: liquorice root, smoked meat, graphite, bitter chocolate, toasted oak. There’s a muscularity here — yet it is precise, not heavy. Structured tannins hold everything together like architectural steel beams inside velvet.
This is not a fruit-driven Shiraz.
It’s a statement about vine age, place and patience.
A wine built for decades.
Torbreck – The Laird 2017 ist kein leiser Wein.
