On October 2, I joined neighbours at the Our Ocean Film Fest at Centennial Theatre, a made-in-BC festival connecting people to the ocean through film. Thank you to founders Adriana Ramirez and Alvaro Calderon for creating space to learn how we can care for ocean health, even here in the City of North Vancouver. The ocean isn’t just a backdrop. It’s part of our everyday life, from the Shipyards to Mosquito Creek to the Second Narrows. Burrard Inlet is a working port and a natural coastline with untapped potential for recreation. When people can safely get into the water, they care more about protecting it. That’s the idea behind Swim Drink Fish, whose water monitoring helps people know when and where it’s safe to swim, including at the proposed Harbour Swim Deck at Waterfront Park, expected to open in 2027. The Swim Deck can: 🌊 Build awareness of our coastal waters and inspire people to protect them 🏊 Offer free, safe swimming for everyone at a fraction of the cost of an indoor pool 🛍️ Bring more visitors to Lower Lonsdale and the Shipyards to enjoy local businesses It’s about more than a swim deck. It’s about how we see our waterfront: something to protect, enjoy, and grow our local economy around. #NorthVancouver #OurOceanFilmFest #SwimDrinkFish #BurrardInlet #LowerLonsdale #OceanHealth

I’m so honoured and excited to be a vendor at the @athenacollective_ x @bardonthebeach Summer Marketplace on Saturday, August 29th at Sen̓ ákw/Vanier Park! I’ll be there with my amazing and charming 9-year-old helper/co-creator, who has been so naturally, enthusiastically, and voluntarily involved in my entrepreneurship adventure ❤️ It’s pretty special to watch her be part of it! We’ll be sharing the mission behind She Session Studio: capturing portraits of women in a way that feels natural, feminine, and authentically them. And we’ll be talking about how we actually do it - because it’s easy to say “natural and feminine”, but… how do you actually make that happen in front of a camera?! 😄 And there’s more! 🎉 We’ll have a veeeery significant special discount on photoshoots booked that day, AND at the end of the marketplace, we’ll draw one lucky winner who will receive a FREE photoshoot with She Session Studio! 🥳 Come find me on the lawn from 6pm onwards and say hi, try your luck in the draw, discover a marketplace full of incredible women-led businesses, and stay for a night at the theatre with Bard’s delightful production of Merry Wives of Windsor at 7:30pm. Whether you already know Athena Collective or this is your first time hearing about it, everyone is welcome. Come support small businesses, meet some new people, and enjoy a little Shakespeare under the summer sky. There’s also a special 15% discount on tickets in Zones A+, A and B and 10% off picnic boxes (use code 26ATHENA), so if you want to stay for the show, grab your tickets before they’re gone. All the details and tickets here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/athena-collective-x-bard-on-the-beach-marketplace-merry-wives-of-windsor-tickets-1995170891846 And a very special thank you to Kim @arvorei.communications and @sarahbundyconnect for coming up with this amazing idea and making it happen. ❤️ Can’t wait to see you there! 🫶 Olga & Natalia She Session Studio

Before summer slips away and September brings its familiar rush, I’ve been thinking about what it means to make space—not just on our calendars, but in our homes, our bodies and our lives. The latest edition of my holistic real estate newsletter begins, as usual, with a personal reflection on staying close to home in a season of integration and making room for what’s next. Curated bi-monthly, this worthy read brings together some of the things I’ve been paying attention to: 🏡 A thoughtful late summer market update + why townhomes may be the sweet spot for building equity
🚆 Surrey-Langley’s SkyTrain, infrastructure and growth story
🏓 What pickleball courts have to do with real estate value
🍂 Preparing your home and body for the cooler season Grateful to have had a pause from organizing + hosting events this summer, but we are back with an exciting line-up:
🎭 Aug 29: Athena Collective Marketplace x Bard on the Beach 🥂 Sept 19: Brunch Reception + Discovery experience proudly co-hosted with locally-rooted developer Zenterra
✍️ Sept 27: a new Diasporic Writers’ Table coming this fall
 Catch all the details here [link in bio]: https://bit.ly/RainDancerHomesJulyAug2026 💌 What are you making space for this fall? #VancouverRealEstate #FraserValleyRealEstate #SurreyBC #LangleyBC #HomeOwnership #RealEstateInvesting #HolisticRealEstate #LifeDesign #CommunityBuilding #FallReset #LocalVancouver #FraserValleyLiving #WomenInBusiness

In every service-based business, there’s the work you do out front and the work that makes it all possible behind the scenes. And if you’re being honest, focusing on sales isn’t always easy when you’re also the one delivering the service. In this clip, Kim Jacob from @arvorei.communications shares what she’s learning as she outsources marketing, sales, business development, and service delivery, and how that shift is creating more space to grow. A big part of what makes it work is her global network of 50+ translators, supporting the backend in a way that keeps everything moving, even when client work gets intense.🤘 What’s one part of your business you’d love to outsource first so you can focus on what only you can do?✨ Stay tuned for the full @itsthemagichourpodcast episode from #VSW2026, coming soon on Spotify and Apple Podcasts. 📹 Filming by @marlowereanne 🎨 Logo design by @marlowereanne 💫 Animation design by @bguarizo 💻 Video edit by @hopemikal @hellounicornmarketing

What does it mean to be a Woman in Tech? And really, what does it mean to be a woman… Today? A somewhat last minute gathering of mostly strangers from various women in business groups took these questions on yesterday at an event called, What the Tech? As women in business, we all typically know that there is a kind of magic that happens with certain people and, for me, yesterday’s event at Tayybeh Foods in Vancouver was overflowing in that magical energy. Out of the 21 that registered, 14 of us “certain people” gathered to connect, learn and support. Our focus was Women in Tech and in follow up to Web Summit, the big question was, “What does it mean to be a Woman in Tech?” There was an agenda (that we kind of followed) which mostly focussed on three key voices that if I’m being honest, selfishly, I wanted to hear more from. @edifylearningspaces, Dr. Jackie F. Steele and @arvorei.communications did not disappoint with war stories of success and challenge related to Web Summit, shady investors, networking tips, reinvention, neurodiversity in tech…and MORE… and I think what stood out MOST is that they were REAL stories. As 1pm quickly arrived, the conversations continued, and, a strong interest for MORE gatherings like this emerged...with MORE opportunities to interconnect our communities and, grow our impact. Together. And no, I don’t believe we came to a succinct definition of what it means to be a Woman in Tech, but, for me, this event made me feel more included …and more understood …and MORE connected through the diversity of the stories shared. Thank you to EVERYONE who took the time out of your busy days to contribute to the conversations… thank you to @nihal.elwan for the life-giving delicious sustenance, as well as her powerful visionary leadership in the Vancouver community gem that is @tayybeh.syrian. ….and, stay tuned… What the Tech, Part Two is percolating! 🎃🎉😊🎉 #community #womenintech #womensupportingwomen #vancouverwebsummit #magic #youaremagic @edensalonsouthsurrey @_the_mother_corp_ @leadwithasmaa

This was very first gala (@theforumca Pitch Finale) in Canada and my very first showcase during the Entrepreneur Showcase. I won't lie, I was stressed and didn't know what to expect but... It was a truly amazing experience!🔥I had some interesting conversations, connected with new and reconnected with already familiar lovely people! I'm grateful to The Forum for the opportunity and extremely happy that they fundraised over a million $ (for the very first time too!) to support even more woman-identifying entrepreneurs 😍 🙏
