In the dining area at Rove Al Marjan Island, framed artworks by @arwas.space bring together cultural references and visual storytelling in a playful, graphic style.

The series draws on Ras Al Khaimah’s surrounding landscapes and the region’s coffee and tea traditions — blending textured collages of palms, sand, and shared rituals. The result is a collection that feels connected and rooted in place.

🇵🇸“My tax dollars pay for the bombs that kill my people.”

📚Although I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to read diversely, I still doubt every now and then the global impact of this act. Participating in the #Pages4PalestineReadathon, reminded what a difference diverse reading can make. Were it not for the readathon, organized by @Rocio_LiteraryPlantitas and @Ashlee_ErinReads, crossing these three selections off my tbr would’ve been delayed. Participating in it, however, made it more urgent and spurred me to take immediate further action. It also connected me with more people in the booksta community with similar values. I’m reminded, yet again, that reading is very much so a political act.

🌕I completed Dear God, Dear Bones, Dear Yellow by Noor Hindi @NoorKHindi on the last day of the readathon, and I haven’t been able to stop rereading select poems ever since. Reading this title after Rifqa, it was quite interesting to see a shared experience from two different perspectives and through different styles of writing. Both are so impactful.

🍉Hindi’s, in particular is intersectional and feminist, raw and a direct confrontation of what it means to be a Palestinian, but also what it means to experience oppression and Islamophobia while also separated from the Arab community. The message transcends several lines—the gender binary, ethnic communities, borders, and geopolitical issues, to name a few.

🫒She challenges us to not lose sight of what matters, to not give in to “an over saturation of feelings we’ll fail at transforming into action.” So if you find your resolve waning just a bit lately, pick this one up to reignite that fire you have in you, because, “What’s lost is incalculable.”

🕊️Like the poet, “I want to believe language matters, that words create meaning, that a person can breathe a thing into existence.”
