Surround me with the rebels and the misfits that truly live life in accordance with their own rules. To be truly alive is to live life by that feeling in your bones which sounds only like a resounding “fuck yes”. To all the people out there who are struggling or feeling like they don’t belong or that life around them just doesn’t feel right, that is because our world is fucked. That feeling of dissatisfaction is the gap between living authentically and playing by society’s rules instead of your own. Society has sold us the idea that bigger is better and that happiness comes in the shape of an Amazon prime box. It has normalized the idea that our jobs can be meaningless and mundane and to sell our souls for a paycheck. It has convinced us that #relationshipgoals are real, that a degree makes you smarter or more qualified, and duped you into thinking that the ass you see as you are scrolling through instagram is anything but airbrushed. If you want real happiness, you must also feel real pain, to have real depth you must have touched the utter emptiness of surface level and had just enough mundane conversations about the fucking weather. (Sorry New Englanders) If you are struggling, unhappy, or uncomfortable it is because you are so wrapped up in society’s bullshit you don’t even know where you end and society begins. You are so at peace with a false sense of security and known patterns you don’t even remember what it feels like to explore the edge of what is possible. Spend time with your inner world, long enough to be able to live from that place, long enough to have your own opinion, to act and make decisions based on your own desires. Be a rebel, even in the most simple moments. Cheers to the misfits and the rebels because they are the courageous ones who won’t trade their authenticity for approval.
