This place changes your brain chemistry ♨️

📍Located in the Izu Peninsula, this 3-Michelin key ryokan has just 12 rooms, incredible multi-course Kaiseki dinners, private onsen baths and is one of the most peaceful places that exists on earth 🙏🏽

It’s also notoriously difficult to book 🏯I was on the waitlist for months before an opening became available.

♨️ Comment JAPAN and I’ll send you my guide to Asaba + how to book it.

The ryokan I’d almost rather keep to myself… but won’t 🗝️ @asaba_ryokan

Asaba, in Shuzenji, is the kind of place that reminds you why staying in a ryokan should be more than a box to tick on a Japan itinerary.

Centuries of history, hot-spring baths, a Noh stage floating over the pond, and the kind of quiet that makes two nights suddenly feel very necessary.

No spectacle. No trying to look Japanese for the visitor. Just an extraordinary sense of place.

If you have two extra nights outside Tokyo, this is where I’d spend them.

For years, Japan was at the very top of my bucket list. This summer, my husband and I finally had the chance to visit, and it exceeded every expectation.

The food, the people, the culture, the attention to detail... everything about Japan completely captivated me. I loved the energy of Tokyo, the traditions of Kyoto, and discovering just how much there is to experience beyond the places you typically hear about.

From morning sumo practice and incredible sushi to peaceful ryokans, centuries-old traditions, and even the turquoise waters of Miyakojima, Japan truly has something for every kind of traveler.

I came home already wanting to go back, and even more excited to help my clients experience this incredible destination.

Save this guide for a little Japan inspiration, and when you’re ready to start planning your own Japan adventure, reach out.

Don’t spend your extra two nights in Tokyo.🍱 Use them to experience the part of Japan the city simply can’t give you. We got you covered!

*Asaba for tradition and a stay that becomes the whole plan.
*Gora Kadan for polished ryokan luxury, kaiseki and hot springs.
*Yama no Chaya for something smaller, quieter and built around its own onsen source.

Tokyo gives you energy. A ryokan gives you contrast — and that contrast is often what makes the trip feel complete.

Pick one. Give it both nights. Don’t rush back.

This time last year at @asaba_ryokan, where we wore yukata at mealtimes and nothing in the onsen.
