A huge THANK YOU to Jacobs for joining us for an insightful and inspiring information session! 👷‍♀️👷‍♂️

We had an amazing turnout of students eager to learn about career opportunities, industry experiences, and what it takes to succeed in the engineering field.

Special thanks to Jose Tabarez Jr. for taking the time to share his professional journey, valuable advice, and experiences with our future engineers! 💡

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this event a success! We look forward to creating more opportunities for students to connect, learn, and grow! 🧡

A day of service, connection, and Vaquero spirit! 🌊🤠 Last weekend, the ASCE RGV Branch and UTRGV ASCE Student Chapter came together for two events that celebrated our commitment to the environment and our engineering community.

We started the morning at Adolph Thomae Jr. County Park for the 2026 Rookery Island Cleanup. A scenic boat ride took volunteers to the cleanup areas, where they collected litter in shallow waters and removed discarded rope from the mangroves. These efforts help protect our community’s Arroyo Colorado watershed and our local estuary, the Lower Laguna Madre. As the only hypersaline lagoon in the United States and one of just a handful worldwide, the Laguna Madre is a natural treasure worth protecting. 🌿♻️

That afternoon, we traded cleanup gear for game day spirit at the UTRGV vs. Southeastern tailgate! Alongside the Texas Society of Professional Engineers and the RGV Engineering Alumni Association, students and professionals enjoyed an afternoon of Vaquero pride. 🏈🧡

Thank you to the organizers, boat crews, volunteers, and tailgate partners who made this day possible! We look forward to participating in more events that bring us together, give back to our community, and strengthen connections among current and future engineers.

Today marks one year since I graduated from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley with my Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, graduating with Honors and Summa Cum Laude.

This past year has been one of the most transformative years of my life personally, professionally, and spiritually.

In one year, I moved by myself twice, from Harlingen to Corpus Christi. I started on the technical side of engineering projects and now have the opportunity to grow in project management while also beginning construction inspection this week. Being part of projects that directly impact communities around me has been incredibly meaningful.

I’m also happy to share that I was selected through the work visa lottery system, another important step toward building my future in the United States and creating opportunities that will impact my family for generations.

Looking back, I realize how much sacrifice existed behind the goals I once wrote down as dreams. Balancing Division I volleyball, engineering coursework, leadership positions, research, sustainability work, and my internship at Garver was not easy, but I truly loved every part of it.

Sometimes we become so focused on the next goal that we forget to recognize how far we have already come. I am deeply grateful for my mom, who believed in me when nobody else did, and for every mentor, teammate, professor, friend, and opportunity that became part of this journey. Most importantly, I thank God for guiding every step of the way.

Soon, I’ll step into another special chapter as I return to the classroom for my next step and continue turning big dreams into reality.

Excited for what is ahead and committed to continuing to grow, learn, and make an impact through engineering. ❤️
