Check out my stories for some interesting results from @ascocancer national cancer opinion survey. I was surprised to read that nearly 4 in 10 Americans believe that #cancer can be cured solely through #alternative therapies. Our recommendation is always evidence based medicine (and a big fan of #complementary medicine) and we need to work with our patients, engage in shared decision making and come to a joint solution! Great article by Dr. Erika Hamilton in this month’s ASCO Connection talking about #compromise. •

⚠️ Facts are not easily humanized, and not all facts carry equal importance. How to help consumers understand facts in CONTEXT and embrace the gray zone is one of the challenges of all strategies proposed. Moreover, patient collaboration and careful selection of “the messenger” of accurate information is also key to reestablishing trust in science.

While there were many highlights from 2018, I think the biggest highlight has been the impact AliveAndKickn is having in the Lynch Syndrome community. The statistics warrant as more and more younger people are developing colon, endometrial and other cancers. I spoke at Forbes Healthcare Summit, we met VP Joe Biden at the Biden Cancer Summit, we were interviewed by the Conquer Cancer Foundation as part of StoryCorps and NPR. Our 5th annual Blue Genes Bash was more successful than ever and we added a few new board members. Our national partnership with GYRIG will allow for AliveAndKickn info to get to all of their races. Along the way, we had 3 graduations in one week - Drexel, HS to NYU and Haworth to NVD. Proms. For the first time in 23 years, I wasn’t coaching soccer. Visited Nashville for the first time in too long. Bought a Peloton for home and occasionally go to the studio when local in Manhattan. #iamaliveandkickn
