To be named @elleuk Breakthrough Designer of the Year is an honour I’m still finding the words for. And to receive this award from the incomparable @kenyahunt made the moment even more special. Kenya, thank you for your generosity, your encouragement and for the work you continue to do in creating space for voices like mine. I’m deeply grateful.

Breakthrough can sound like a single moment, but behind it are years of work, faith, sacrifice, rejection, perseverance and so many people who continued to believe in the vision before the world could fully see it.

Thank you to ELLE for recognising me and the world we are building through Tolu Coker. This award belongs not only to me, but to every person who has poured their time, care and belief into this journey.

Thank you to @thepeninsulalondonhotel and @moetchandon for the most beautiful hospitality and stay, and to @charlottetilbury @makeupbysarahdoherty and @ash2u for making me feel so radiant.

And to @highcommish @dovile.visockaite and Todd @agencyeleven, thank you for getting me ready, holding everything together and always, always having my back. I never take the love and care surrounding me for granted.

All glory to God. This is for every dream that took a little longer, every quiet season of becoming and every person courageous enough to keep going before the breakthrough arrives. ❤️

Got tired of looking like a wild ferret 6 months postpartum so I booked a very well deserved silk press while baby was being watched all day by my lovely in laws 🤍. I don’t know what new mom needs to hear this, but take a whole day off for self care and accept the help you’re offered. Go do something for yourself. Don’t rush home. Everything is going to be fine. Yes even if you get a coffee and lunch too.

@ash2u from @elevate399 really did that ✨
