When you throw Hellraiser + Meshuggah + Live Orchestra into a Riot Games fighting game OST "Wrack and Ruin" is the Shadow Isles @2xko Stage Theme (which you can play right now, for zero dollars on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox) Full video on YouTube (link in bio), soundtrack available digitally This is my composer performance of the music I wrote for the Ruined Courtyard in 2XKO. When I was writing for Shadow Isles, I really wanted to lean into the darker side of what I love musically. This track tips its hat pretty heavily to Christopher Young's Hellraiser score (one of my favorite horror movies since I was a kid) and Meshuggah. Dark orchestral horror, ugly harmonies, huge live orchestral performances, and heavy guitars. Basically all things I love and somehow got to put into the same piece of music for a soundtrack. Getting to make orchestral mosh for a game that I’m actually excited about is such a massive honor- This is my second game soundtrack that I’ve gotten to be a part of this year and I want to thank all of the hard work of @jake625clark (you make me proud every day jake) @ashandaethermusic @scottayseigel and all of the other musicians on the project @_health_ @_johnny_health_ @mishaperiphery @j4r3dd1n3s @chriswilsonsound @prblymonsters Stepping into my world to bring working musicians onto projects like this to make real tracks feels, to me, like the antidote to the way generative AI is bearing down on all of our means to express ourselves. On one hand we have companies trying to gamify all of these things we have worked hard for into a couple button pushes and then on the other hand you have some cool fuckin companies that are like “hey you want a job making our boss fights look like mosh pits?”

Composing Ahri's theme for 2XKO was probably the most intimidating thing I'd written up to that point. I'd never written music like it before, and let's be honest...Ahri's League of Legends theme is already perfect. Riot doesn't phone it in when it comes to music. If AI music tools like Suno existed in my world three years ago (maybe it did?), I'd understand why people would reach for them. When you're completely out of your depth, a shortcut starts sounding pretty good. Regardless of how daunting the task was, I still composed her theme the old fashioned way, step-by-step: • Memorize the brief • Research the references • Profile her character & story • Build the palette & vocabulary • Riff around on piano • Find the sounds in my head • Spend every waking moment building the music my brain starts generating throughout my days both in & out of my studio • Doubt every step of the way thus far • Build the courage to show Riot • Get feedback • Make it better • Repeat until fully cooked Believe it or not, that's what I live for. Offloading all of the above sounds a lot less fun because I live for the challenges life brings. For me, making the music I hear in my head come to life is like beating the Orphan of Kos in Bloodborne. Or more poetically: it's like discovering a part of who I am that I didn't know before. A song I wrote was performed in a huge arena in Shanghai!! 🥹 Elizabeth Hull (Ellie ❤️) and I wrote “Battleplan Extinguished Sins” for the videogame Arknights a little over a year ago. We did this in my bedroom. I never imagined that a song I put my hands on would be performed like this. It’s a first for me and oh man… it’s fkn emotional 😭 Couldn’t have done it without the extra production from @geoffreydaymusic, the mix / master from @georgelever_g1 , all the support from my team at @ashandaethermusic , friends, family, and most importantly, Ellie. 🖤 The concert is called “Ambience Synesthesia 2026 - I Witnessed” and it’s available on YouTube for everyone to watch. @jessezuretti was gracious enough to send me the instrumental mix of Witness Evolution with no drums for me to make a drum cover! It was such a blast to play along to such an incredible track! The cover was done as a single take as well, which took me a couple tries to get it right, but I think it landed pretty well! I also decided to not play over the first verse, as to not distract from the awesome electronic drums that were already there, letting them breathe as much as possible! The kit I used was the Matt Garstka kit from @ggd.co , which has such a realistic response when played! Also I wanted to give a huge shoutout to @anupsastry for crushing the original drums on the track. He is such an incredible drummer!
