There’s a difference between being a great singer and changing the way people think about vocals. 🎙️

Brandy earned the nickname “The Vocal Bible” because of much more than runs it’s the layering, harmonies, phrasing, tone, restraint and the way she approaches a vocal arrangement.

As an artist, I LOVE studying what makes other artists distinctive. There’s always something to learn.

Who’s an artist you think every vocalist should study?

20 years of B’Day on Beyoncé’s birthday 🐝🎂 and this album will always have a special connection to me and my family.

Watching Auntie Betty’s music continue to live through new artists, new songs and new generations will never stop being special to me. That’s legacy. ❤️🎶

And “Upgrade U” STILL goes off! 😂🔥

What’s your favorite song from B’Day?

I performed at the Source Awards with Trick Daddy when I was a kid… and I’ll NEVER forget what happened that night. 😳

We ended up being there until around 3AM even though Trick had specifically asked that us kids not be kept out that late.

When he realized we were STILL there? Yeah… he went OFF. 😂

As a kid, I just knew he was mad. As an adult, I see that moment completely differently: he was looking out for us.

And somehow Method Man + Redman riding our scooters is part of this same night. 😂 That story is NEXT.

What’s your favorite Trick Daddy record?

At 12 years old, I got the opportunity to sing on a Michael Jackson record. 🤯🎙️ And trust me…even at 12, I knew how incredible that was. I was already a fan!

I’ve had some amazing experiences throughout my life in music, and I realized I’ve never really shared many of these stories here.

So welcome to MY MUSIC LIFE 🎶 — a new series where I’m taking you behind some of the moments that have shaped my journey in music.

And no…I’m not telling you which Michael Jackson record just yet. 😂👀

Any guesses?

Stop apologizing for your happiness. Stop shrinking to make others comfortable.
