What if every child could grow up surrounded by love, joy and possibility? 💛

In Bastar, years of conflict have shaped the childhoods of many children. Today, we have an opportunity to imagine something different — a childhood filled with play, discovery, learning and belonging.

I believe every child deserves that chance. And together, we can help make it possible.

Join me in reimagining childhood in Bastar.
Your contribution of ₹2,000 can support one child for an entire year.

16,000+ hours pledged!
That’s 16,000+ grown-ups who spent an unhurried hour with a child this DaanUtsav, as part of the Bachpan is Gr8 Hour. Swipe to see what the children did with it.

Every hour in this carousel went wherever the child took it. Together they cover all eight Wonders of #BachpanIsGr8.

Thank you to every parent, teacher, anganwadi worker, colleague and neighbour who made the time, and to the partners and Collabactors who spread the word.

Children notice things in public spaces that grown-ups walk right past. Let them lead
the way.

There's still time till 8 October. Open your library, museum, park or public space to children for an hour and let them lead. The story, the corner, the thing they want to show you.

Tag a public space near you that should do this.

How it works:
1⃣ Give the hour. One hour, any day till 8 October. The children lead, you follow.
2⃣ Look back. Play, social bonding, all-round skills, education, creativity, stories,
nature or quiet time. Which of the 8 Wonders showed up?
3⃣ Share it.
Tag @BachpanManao with #BachpanIsGr8Hour, or WhatsApp a photo or voice note to 87922 43532. Capture the moment, not the faces.

Set it up now, before someone books a sync.
Block an hour, switch on the auto-reply, and give that hour to a child. They set the agenda, you show up.

Tag the colleague whose out-of-office you'd love to see this week.

1⃣ Give the hour. One hour, any day till 8 October. The child leads, you follow.

The EOI is closed. The journey begins.

Over the past few weeks, people from different places, professions and experiences have written to us with one thing in common - a curiosity to understand Bastar by coming closer.

Thank you for trusting us with your questions and your reasons for wanting to be here.

We now begin the difficult part: bringing together 20 residents with different starting points, different perspectives and a willingness to listen.

And alongside that, we begin putting together the people, places and encounters that will make the Residency what we imagined it to be.

Nirman Residency - Bastar Chapter
28 November–3 December 2026
South Bastar

What if you came to Bastar without trying to understand it too quickly?

A haat. A forest. A shared meal.
A conversation that stays with you.
A story you agree with. Another you don’t.
And perhaps, somewhere between them, a better question.

Nirman Residency is Five days of listening, experiencing, questioning and learning alongside people who live and shape the many realities of Bastar.

Not to arrive at one version of Bastar.
Not to leave with easy answers.

Come curious. Leave with better questions.

28 November–3 December | South Bastar
EOI closes 30 September.

Who gets to tell the story of a place?

Perhaps the better question is: why should there be only one?

For Nirman Residency, we want to come closer to Bastar through people who experience its changes differently - those who live here, build here, question things, preserve things, leave, return, remember, and imagine what comes next.

Not to find the story of Bastar.

To listen to enough of them that a single story no longer feels sufficient.

Everyone has an hour. 🕐

It is already sitting somewhere in your day, waiting to be spent with a child.

Swipe through for exactly where to find yours, and give it this DaanUtsav, between 2 and 8 October.

We opened the Expression of interest for the residency with a question.
The responses are giving us many more.

That feels like a good beginning for Nirman Residency, different people arriving with different curiosities, without needing to arrive at the same conclusions.

EOI closes 30 September.

Most adults would have picked up the cone. She got down on her hands and knees and followed the ants instead, because that's where he was already going.

This DaanUtsav, 2 to 8 October, give a child an hour of your full attention and let them decide what happens in it. We're calling it the Bachpan is Gr8 Hour.

1. Give the hour.
2. They decide what to do.
3. Look back, see what you noticed.
4. Share it : Tag @BachpanManao with #BachpanIsGr8Hour, email bachpanmanao@gmail.com, or WhatsApp 87922 43532 and tell us which wonder you spotted.

Child-led means no teaching, no directing. You follow, they lead. Any age counts.
