Dear Servus @calgarymarathon,

This weekend you taught me a lot.

I’m really proud to have completed my first 10K race and for beating my goal time by over 10 minutes. I felt strong but more importantly, I had SO. MUCH. FUN. I’m super grateful for the opportunity to connect with so many people who are new to the sport before hitting the start line too. Trying new things is HARD, but the @runcalgary community takes a lot of that fear away.

I’ve come a long way in the last year, both physically and mentally. Feeling the energy of 20,000 other runners after months of training on my own is something I’ll remember for a long time. Learning to move in a way that’s guided by what sparks joy and helps me feel connected to my body has been at the root of that progress. And getting to experience that support on course…and then turn around and cheer on the half and full marathon runners was such a blessing.

race weekend reminded me that there’s something really special about people showing up for each other. I’m excited to keep cheering you all on, and I think it’s safe to say the half marathon is officially calling my name now!

See you at the start line,
Peirce
