Sometimes, we become so focused on chasing our goals that we forget to slow down and appreciate what’s already in front of us. We get so caught up in working hard and striving for more that we forget to check in with ourselves.

Before we know it, we’re constantly tired, overwhelmed, or running on empty. We become so used to feeling this way that we start to believe it’s our new normal.

Sometimes, I question whether I’m doing enough, whether I’m enough. I even feel guilty for watching a movie or reading a fictional book, as if time spent doing something that doesn’t bring me closer to my goals is time wasted.

But not every moment needs to be productive to be valuable. Resting, enjoying the little things, and doing something simply because it makes me happy matter, too.

I need to remind myself that I’m already living in a place I once dreamed of being. There will always be another goal to reach, but I don’t want to become so focused on what’s next that I forget to appreciate how far I’ve come, so I will read that book, watch that series or simply enjoy a sunrise.

We are allowed to enjoy the life we once dreamed of while still working towards the life we dream of next. 💕

One thing I’ve realised as I’ve got older:

You can have every reason in the world to feel sorry for yourself.

Things happen that aren’t your fault.

People let you down.
Relationships end.
Business doesn’t go how you expected.
You lose money.
Plans fall apart.
Life throws you a curve ball.

& it’s fucking shit, I know.

I’m not saying you should pretend everything is fine.

But there’s a difference between acknowledging that something has happened & accepting that’s just the way it is.

I’ve been speaking to a few people recently who seem completely stuck.

They’re unhappy with where they are.

They’ve been unhappy for months.

But when I asked what they’re actually doing to change things…

Nothing.

Same situation.
Same habits.
Same environment.
Same excuses.
Same conversations.

Then another 6 months goes by & they’re still wondering why nothing has changed.

At some point, you have to take some responsibility for the direction your life is going.

Not because everything that happened is your fault.

But because what happens next is your responsibility.

You might not be able to change what happened.

You might not be able to control every circumstance.

But you can control what you do moving forwards.

Change your environment.
Change your habits.
Have the difficult conversation.
Start training.
Sort your diet out.
Work harder.
Reach out for help.

Whatever it is.

Just do something.

Because staying in the exact same place hoping your circumstances will magically change isn’t going to solve anything.

You don’t need to have your whole life figured out but

Take responsibility.
Control what you can control.
Make the necessary changes.
Stick to it & give it time.

Your life doesn’t change because you want it to.

It changes when your actions change.

@humantra run club, Kite Beach Dubai📍

I saw someone post a video this week saying “Show your wins, show your losses, show your journey. You’ll trigger some, you’ll inspire more” and I’m so here for it.

New personality pending now I just knocked 23 seconds off my PB 🏃🏼‍♀️💨

Still love a pint of Guinness or 10 but also love stepping out of my comfort zone and turning up to a run club/fitness class full of strangers at daft o’clock in the morning (once I’ve stopped gasping for air).

Not written this much since I did my GCSE’s, sincere apologies x
