there’s nothing like a little ✨surprise✨

we had my sweet niece fully convinced we weren’t gonna be able to make it to Nashville for her 6th birthday (and she was SO sweet and understanding about it of course🙃), but little did she know that there was zero chance I was missing out on celebrating her magical life.

We missed her SO MUCH, and being able to make her feel so loved and special was simply the best feeling in the world!!

Happy almost birthday my sweet niece, you are so so loved!!

I cannot express enough how LUCKY we were that our blowout scenario wasn’t worse. A blown tire can destroy plumbing, rip jack’s off (technically it broke our jack we just didn’t find out until later🙃) and even cause us to lose control and wreck. Luckily for us we were able to pull over and quickly and safely to get everything fixed back up. Unfortunately we picked up a screw in a second fifth wheel tire so we needed a full set replacement. With our tire size being an odd size, it needed to be ordered for us so we lost a day on the way to Atlanta BUT I build time like this into my planning just in case we have something unexpected happen (like this🥲). Luckily the guys at Nebraskaland Tire delivered them right to our door at the crack of dawn and got us fixed up and ready to finish our exhaustingly long trek to the southeast. Just a reminder that not every day looks like a magical adventure. Some days give you grays and make you question just exactly what the heck you’re doing out here!

well, the west is officially in our rearview today. the feeling of saying “see you later” is always bittersweet, but we’re feeling grateful this time around because after daydreaming about spending more time here we got six whole weeks this year. enough time to watch summer start to drift away on chilly morning breezes and to listen to countless thunderstorms roll through the valley…to make new friends and visit old ones and to even show up to the ranch a week early because we were just too dang excited to notice, haha! and even though our post-montana blues are already kicking in full force, we’re already working on our bucket list for our next time around 🌞

this song hits different when you’ve spent most of August in a place that will surely ice over soon and stay cold + quiet for the majority of the year.

Oof - it never gets easier to tell Montana “see you next year” but we’ve still got two weeks before it’s time for all that bitter sweetness🥲

August, you slipped right through our fingers! How the heck are we already in Missoula with another couple thousand miles under our belt?!

From all the wildflowers still blooming throughout the tops of the mountains, to watching the perseids meteor shower from Logan pass, almost losing our brakes down a mountain pass, losing BOTH fender skirts on the rig, letting our dogs swim happily in oceans and rivers, rerouting almost all of the trip itself due to fires, and spotting bears goats elk and rams….we’ll chalk it all up to another badass adventure for the books and the perfect way to celebrate one whole year of this craziness 🤩

It was a tough choice changing our plans last minute, but on the flip side…at least we’re in our favorite place again. The smoke from all of these wildfires across Oregon, Washington, and Montana has been unbelievable to witness. Our hearts go out to all the people who’ve been displaced as well as to the firefighters who’ve been working their tails off to keep their communities safe 🌲🫶🏼⛰️

you can add “cancelling and completely re-routing our travel plans due to wildfires” to the list 🥴

this life continues to be the convergence of a constant “learning process” and a beautiful adventure and we wouldnt trade it!

After our stay in Bend and keeping a close eye on the fires and smoke around us, we decided it was a better choice for us to head east to Montana early. It’s bittersweet because of how excited we were for our PNW adventure but we’re also not mad at having extra time in Glacier and Missoula before ranch time.
