Malachite Monday 💚 If you like your fantasy books with a lot of sass (and a bit of spice) our resident romantasy expert Nicola has a pick for you:

"Malachite felt like a magical version of Divergent, with a unique crystal-based magic system and cutthroat competition to earn your place in your unit at Valmora Academy.

The dialogue was believable, and the action kept me turning the pages long into the night. Malachite is an epic adult fantasy debut from a local author which will fill the void in your teen-dystopian, competitive-academy-loving heart."

Grab your copy of Malachite from Unity Books Auckland.

I got tagged in a Rainbow stack so long ago by the amazing @nzbooktokgirl and I finally got around to it!

Here’s my pastel version because I surprisingly do t own many coloured books!

🩷 Ace My Heart by @laylapine_author a murder mystery woman in sports romance!
🧡 Crescent City @sarahjmaas I really need to get to reading throne of glass so I can read this series!
💛 In the Weeds by @authorbkborison I’m hoping to finally read this series soon as I won’t to read limelight farms in December!
💚 Collide by @authorbalkhabra I just finished this one and loooved it! It’s a Hockey romance as was so good! Love a man that is whipped!
🩵 Heartless by @authorelsiesilver I’m so in my cowgirl era so can’t wait to finally start this series! As a new line dancer myself, this is my petition for you to write one with a professional line dancer!!
💜 Love Theoretically by @alihazelwood an absolute comfort read and author for me! If you have only just found the Ali verse with the new movie that’s just released, you need to read all her books now! Woman in stem romances!

That’s my stack! Now for me to find more colourful books to add to my collection 🧚🏼‍♀️

I’ve tagged a few, sorry if you have done it already! But if you haven’t I can’t wait to see your stack!

Book: Malachite
By: @ashleyandersenauthor

I absolutely LOVED this one! 💚

One of my favourite parts of Malachite was watching Aria grow throughout the story. It really felt like we got to watch her slowly find herself and her strength, and even when it felt like the whole world was against her, she was NOT going to give up.

She’s funny, stubborn and definitely has her badass moments, and I loved seeing more and more of that side of her come out as the story went on.

And then there’s Sebastian…

Good lord, the mixed emotions I had over this man. One minute I hated him and the next I was sitting there swooning over him like I hadn’t just been angry at him five minutes earlier.

Although I’m just saying… I think we could have done with a little more grovelling. 👀🤣

The plot had me completely hooked. Aria goes into Valmora determined to figure out what really happened with her brother, and I loved following her as she started digging into everything surrounding him. There were so many questions and little pieces along the way that kept me intrigued and genuinely not wanting to put the book down.

I also absolutely LOVE Tilly, Jeb and Lillian. 💚

Xavier, however…

We will be having words. 😡

And THE ENDING?!

I did NOT see that plot twist coming. I was completely on the edge of my seat and then it just hit me. I love when I think I have some idea where a story is heading and a book manages to surprise me like that.

And obviously we need to talk about the spice…

🔥🔥🔥

Yeah. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. 🤣

Between Aria’s growth, the academy, the romance, the friendships, the mystery surrounding her brother, the plot twists and a storyline that kept me wanting to read just one more chapter, Malachite had me hooked.

And somehow I finished with even MORE questions than I started with?! There is still so much I need answers to, especially after THAT ending.

Have you read Malachite yet? Because I finished it with approximately 700 more questions than I started with 👀

Today was a dream come true.

I met two of my top 5 fav authors and I can't stop pinching myself! @authornalinisingh and @ashs_reads it was so so incredible to meet you both and hear about your author journeys.

I was also crazy enough to make myself a book sleeve the night before 😂😂😂😂😂 you can check out @thebluerivercollective for your book sleeve needs 😊 #probablyreadingsomethingunholy

A huge thank you to @celestialfantasyevents @thenilenz for organizing such an awesome event for us bookish baddies ❤️

And a special thankyou to my husband - for being my photographer, my driver, my bestie and my support team when I almost bawled my eyes out 😂😂😂😂😂😂

A little Seb & Aria from Malachite ⚔️❤️‍🔥

Also, I have been a published author for 4 months now! How has it gone so quickly. I swear last year when I was in the middle of writing Malachite, publishing day felt like eons away and now I get to see all these beautiful people sharing Malachite on their feeds and giving such wonderful support to this dream I’ve had since I was little.

Now if you didn’t know, Malachite is available in paperback, ebook and in audio (which IMO is absolutely incredible 🤭)

-enemies to lovers
-found family
-slow burn
-academic setting
-elemental and crystal magic
-training for war
-dead brother murder mystery

Attended my second panel, this was for WORD Christchurch on Romantasy. This was also my first solo trip to the South Island. I had never been to Christchurch and it was so beautiful, I absolutely need to go back.

Had such a wonderful time up on the panel with the most lovely people. Thank you @wordchch for having me! It was a blast.
