Happy 5th Birthday to our Leni girl! ❤️🎉

You are so funny, loving, and probably the toughest now 5-year-old girl I know! 😂 I love watching you grow, seeing you make new friends, crushing snacks with you, and yes, even when you climb into our bed in the middle of the night.

You bring so much love, laughter, and personality into our lives, and I wouldn’t change a thing!

Mom, Dad, Cruz, and Maxee love you more than you’ll ever know! ❤️ I hope you have the BEST YES DAY ever today! 🥳💕

There’s something special about having neighbors who become so much more than just neighbors — they become family. Every year we get together for our annual “Last Day of Summer” dinner, and it’s become one of those traditions I hope we never outgrow.

Our kids get to grow up together, run back and forth between houses, ride bikes over to see each other, and make the kind of memories they’ll hopefully talk about years from now. We seriously couldn’t ask for better neighbor kids.

One of my favorite things is watching the friendship between Cruz and Zac. Cruz is only in 2nd grade, and Zac is already in 9th grade, but that doesn’t matter to Cruz. 😂 He’ll hop on his bike and ride over just to see if Zac is home.

And what makes it even better is that Zac actually makes time for him.

I don’t know many 9th graders who would make a 2nd grader feel like one of the guys, but Zac does. Cruz absolutely looks up to him, and as a parent, it’s pretty awesome knowing your kid has an older kid like that in his life.

Summer might be coming to an end, but nights like this remind you how good we have it. Great neighbors, great kids, and friendships that feel more like family. ❤️

Another Last Day of Summer dinner in the books! ☀️🌅

A day late posting because we were too busy celebrating and making memories.

Happy 8th Birthday to my little buddy, Cruz!

I can’t even put into words how proud I am of the young man you’re becoming. You have the biggest heart. You’re one of the kindest kids I know, and it’s no surprise that all your friends love being around you. You’re always the first one to help Mom and Dad around the house without being asked, and that says so much about who you are.

You’ve also become my favorite little buddy to watch the Iowa Hawkeyes with. Some of my favorite memories are simply sitting next to you cheering them on.

The last 8 years have been some of the best years of my life because I get to be your dad. Coaching you in football 🏈 and wrestling 🤼 has given me memories I’ll cherish forever.

I’ll never forget the day we found out we were having a boy. I was so impatient that I couldn’t even wait until we got home. I opened the results standing in Costco, yelled, “We’re having a boy!” and started high-fiving complete strangers. They probably thought I was crazy—but that’s how excited I was.

Happy Birthday, Cruz. Never stop being exactly who you are. Your huge smile, your kind heart, and your incredible personality are going to make a difference in this world someday.

I love you, buddy. I couldn’t be prouder to be your dad.
