The Kingsway, in the @nytimes

This one means a lot.

The Kingsway was built from memories — growing up in New Orleans, the food my father cooked at home, and years of inspiration drawn from China, Singapore and Japan.

To have @brettya1 and The New York Times recognize what we’re trying to create here — and the story behind it — is incredibly special.

We’re proud to represent New Orleans, proud of our team, and grateful to everyone who has walked through our doors during this journey. Honored to be recognized among so many restaurant friends.

This beautiful dish features our duck, beautifully lacquered with a house-made char siu sauce inspired by traditional Cantonese methods.

Crafted from caramelized jaggery, fermented black bean curd, soy, ginger, garlic, and Chinese five-spice, the sauce is meticulously brushed on throughout the roasting process.

Finally made it to @thekingswaynola and WOWWW was I blown away by every dish and every bite. 🤤

The Kingsway is @ashwinvilkhu contemporary Asian restaurant inspired by the family dinners he grew up eating in New Orleans, tracing a culinary line between New Orleans & Singapore and the flavors and cultures that intersect in both cities.

@eatenpathnola and I did the prix-fixe menu and trulyyyy every course brought something different, but the milk boule, cold chili crab noodles, green curry snapper and the char siu duck are still living in my head.

And if you’re not looking to do the full tasting menu, you can also grab a seat at the bar and order à la carte from their bar menu — which makes it very easy to pop in for a few dishes + drinks. 👀
