What is up, Cardboard Cousins! I finally got my hands on Dune: Imperium – Uprising, and pulling off that box lid felt like finding water in the deep desert. You already know the folks at @direwolf did not play around with these components, from the gorgeous artwork right down to the custom wooden pieces. Seeing all these fresh card decks and new board elements ready for the table has me hyped to get a game night organized ASAP. Slide through the photos to check out everything packed inside this box, and let me know in the comments if this one has made it to your tabletop yet!

What's good, Cardboard Cousins? Today I'm hitting the desert sand with my copy of Dune: Imperium - Uprising, and let me tell you, this box brings some serious heat to my table. Huge shoutout to @asmodee_usa for gifting me this copy so I can break it down for the kinfolk, and mad respect to @direwolf for cooking up this masterpiece. I’ve been diving deep into the new spies mechanic, and my tactical brain is firing on all cylinders. But navigating these political alliances is trickier than it looks, and one wrong move will cost you everything. You won't believe the wild twist I discovered when dropping troops onto the battlefield—tune in to Part 2 to see how the combat shifts my entire strategy!

I'm back on the dunes, homies, and as promised, I’m getting straight into the intense combat phase of Dune: Imperium - Uprising. Dropping those massive sandworms onto the board completely changes my approach to winning key conflicts. It takes some serious foresight to line up the right cards, but when I execute that perfect combo, the payoff feels absolutely incredible. I thought I had my engine locked down until a crazy late-game betrayal flipped my plans upside down. Make sure you slide over to Part 3, because I'm revealing exactly how I bounced back and giving you my final verdict on this heavy hitter!

This is the final showdown, Cousins, and my journey through Dune: Imperium - Uprising has been an absolute cinematic experience. I finally managed to secure my alliances, ride the worms into combat, and snatch that victory point advantage. I have to tip my hat to @direwolfdigital for delivering an experience that keeps my mind racing long after I pack the box away, and big thanks again to @asmodee_usa for gifting me this one so I could share it with y'all. If you love deep, tactical worker placement with satisfying deck-building, this absolutely earns a permanent spot on my shelf. What specific strategy are you planning to run when you get this to your table, kinfolk?

What’s up, Cardboard Cousins, we are finally cracking open Melodies today and standard components just cannot compete with what @next_move_games packed into this box. The artwork hits immediately as soon as that lid slides off, giving off pure tabletop eye candy before you even touch the cards. You already know that fresh cardboard smell paired with pristine tiles gets the competitive itch going right out of the gate. Y’all let me know in the comments if you’re pulling this one straight to the table tonight or letting it sit on the shelf of opportunity.

It’s time to compete in a ritual that takes place throughout a beautiful forest! Only the bravest, most skillful adventurer will win the title of Guardian in Trial of the Forest from @rebelstudio.eu .eu and gifted to me by @asmodee_usa

Designer @giancarlo_spinelli
Artist @mikadochaosmaker

Overview
Players are moving their characters around the board, then placing action tokens to determine what they’re going to do. They can complete deeds, collect equipment, gather resources, heal other creatures, fight enemies, embark on excursions and explore ruins. Most of these culminate in adding cards to your story (tableau), earning you points and building your engine. Since there are so many routes to take, you have to find the right combination of actions to earn more fame than your opponents. Some actions carry a morality choice and you have to decide between being good or evil (which overall can award you the same number of points).

Thoughts
I adore the artwork and all the intriguing forest creatures. The production is fantastic and I appreciate the built-in storage tray. The multiuse cards add some great decisionmaking and we found the iconography easy to learn. The huge number of cards, at least in the main deed deck, makes for a lot of variety.

Technically BGG does not list “worker placement” as a mechanic, but the way you choose your action with your tokens feels like it to me. There are some “encounters” via cards that require rolling dice to “fight”, but none of our games felt mean or aggressive, and we never directly fought each other.

It is a bit of a long learn and I’m not sure the order of the rulebook was the most efficient, but it was all clear and well explained. That being said, we found the gameplay itself very smooth and relatively quick. My teen and I even pulled off a weeknight play in about 40 minutes (not counting setup). We both really enjoyed our plays and look forward to getting it out again. I think my son was actually pleasantly surprised by just how much he enjoyed it (winning multiple times probably helped)!

I would, however, love a solo mode!

*Review copy gifted, but all thoughts are my own.

The most stunning Forest Shuffle Smoky Mountains from @lookout_games. I adore the foliage backdrop for all the cards. I have no doubt that if you love Forest Shuffle you will also love this.there is a new river mechanic that when you plant a tree you can put a river below it and start collecting river animals. It is a whole new way to think and plan as you prepare your forests. I love it.
