I know I always say that I hate running but I make an exception for the Duncan Frontyard Ultra:

5km loop, on the hour, for 3 laps.
Subtract 5min for every additional lap.

Last year I managed 5 laps with no training, I hope I can outdo myself at tomorrow's race!

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 TRAINING FOR THE HARDEST TRIP OF MY LIFE 🥾 follow along for my biggest backpacking adventure yet!

✈️ Less than 3 weeks to go, and my hardest training hike in the books so far!

☀️ It was a beautiful (and warm) day for another hike on the @dufferinhiland section of the @brucetrail_btc in preparation for the longest backpacking trip of my life.

🎒 My sternum strap snapped Friday when I was heading out for the hike, so instead I took an emergency trip to @mec (after phoning first to confirm they had the replacement part I needed).

⛺ After finishing the hike, @withlove_duquettes texted me saying her backpacking tent we were planning to use also broke 🥲 luckily I have a backpacking tent too (albeit a smaller one) so if we can't get a rush part for that, we at least have shelter!

I'm low key glad everything is breaking BEFORE the trip 😂

Any last minute advice for an 8 day backpacking trip?

Swass: noun. A contraction of the words sweat and ass. A term used to describe the sweat found in and around a person's ass crack.

E.g. The hike up to Porteau was seriously swass inducing.

Thanks to my sweet @thebalrog for trekking uphill for 45min in the heat with me. That's love 😘

🥾 My first solo backpacking trip 🎒

🏕️ It can be hard to believe, but I only starting camping 4 years ago! Once I started, I knew my eventual goal was to get into backpacking. I've already headed on a few short trips but the next level was to head out solo!

☔ After an unmotivated winter, I hopped online a few weeks ago and managed to snag a great site at Bruce Peninsula National Park. Looking at the forecast a few days in advance, I thought the forecasted storms would force me to cancel... But I ended up packing my bag the morning of and making it happen!

🗺️ I took the traditional route to camp, and thanks to @alltrails had learned about an alternative, easy snowmobile route which I was happy to have when I saw the severe thunderstorm warnings. Luckily I made it back in time, although I got soaked after lunch!

💪 I'm so proud of myself for making this happen - and if you're newer to the outdoors, I hope you know it's never to late to take on new challenges!

🥪 I learned a few lessons on from this trip - add a pre-hike lunch to the packing list (I was starving and felt kinda crappy by the time I got to camp) and pack more electrolytes than you think!

📄 I also learned a lot of creating a solid safety plan thanks to @shedreamsofalpine

✅ Do you have any outdoorsy goals for this summer?
