My friend and client Asmund Erickson came by yesterday to do some recording. He is the current caretaker of my 2018 ex Frank Wallace guitar (until his new guitar is done). So I can’t wait to hear what he captured on that guitar. But while he was here I couldn’t help but ask him to demo my latest instrument. This is a brand new Cedar top Art series guitar and what you hear here is an instrument that is a couple days old with less than an hour of actual playing on it. This is as fresh as they come. The balance projection and color palette is exactly what I was hoping for. I am sending this to its owner next week and cannot wait until she is in his hands. #ilovemyjob #newguitarday #lutherieisart #classicalguitar #thespanishguitsrworkshop

My friend, photographer and client Asmund Erickson came by to play the new baby and photograph some gems currently in stock and available. Including this masterpiece, a 1967 Friederich. I love Friederichs as a rule and consider his fame and demand as well earned and deserved. But I love the spruce tops from the 60’s especially. And this one above them all. #ilovemyjob #lutherie #guitardealer #friederichguitar #rareguitars #classicalguitar #thespanishguitarworkshop

Having been a student multiple times at the Camino Artes Guitar Workshop in Carrión de los Condes since 2015, this year marked my first time where I had the esteemed honour and privilege of serving as a faculty member, teaching alongside incredibly distinguished colleagues from all over the world. There’s something profoundly moving and almost magical about coming full circle in this beautiful pilgrim town along the Camino de Santiago. The spiritual energy of this ancient route, combined with meeting and sharing music with incredible students from all over the world, creates an atmosphere unlike anywhere else. It’s because of this that I always find myself drawn back to this special place, alongside many old friends of the workshop! It’s always such a joy to touch base and reconnect with them, whilst meeting many new friends along the way. No matter where we are in the world, “all roads lead back to Carrión”. You never know who you’ll run into! From receiving guidance to offering it, this full-circle moment represents one of the most profound experiences of my very own “pilgrimage” with the guitar. Not only did I get to return to Carrión as faculty, but I’ve also had the privilege of introducing the workshop to some of my very own students, past and present, and to be there alongside them is also an incredible honour. Aside from giving multiple solo recitals throughout the week, I even had the rare privilege of sharing the stage with Rene, Elina & Ignacio as a quartet for a special memorial concert commemorating the 400th anniversary reconstruction of the iconic Ermita de la Piedad. Deeply grateful to Rene for years of mentorship and for entrusting me with helping shape the next generation of guitarists. Huge thanks also to Federico Shephard, Ignacio Barcia and all our local friends for their continued support and making everything possible on the ground, as well as to the local Ayuntamiento for their generous support. Buen camino!

EUROPE DUMP 🇩🇪🇪🇸 Currently sitting in the airport while writing this post, reflecting on what was an absolutely transformational 3 week adventure. I left a piece of my heart here in these streets, and owe such an immense gratitude to everyone who helped make my first European guitar trip one that was so memorable, helpful, fun, and inspiring. I seriously took some of the best lessons and masterclasses of my whole life in this time period, and feel an immense desire to continue exploring my craft through the guitar. I feel a deep sense of belonging and validation in being here as an artist, and absolutely can’t wait to return to this amazing part of the world once again - after all, NL is a short flight away !! ;) A tremendous thank you to @jm.canada , @music.nl , and @nl.arts.council for their unbelievable support in making this project happen - not only did I undergo immense professional development, but I also had such a blast!!! Looking forward to future endeavors. Time to sleep and play video games for two weeks before the semester where I’ll also be teaching part time, practicing for big bucket list projects, and enjoying the colours of my home in St. John’s 🐟🎣🌊 GIGS: August 21st: @b.c.power ‘s NIGHT MUSIC show at the ship via @soundsymposium - hopping on stage for an electric improv 🎸 September 13th: @cbnuit festival in Corner Brook NL - set of new music for guitar September 18th: @musicatmemorial 50th anniversary concert - alumni showcase! Domaine Forget 2025 ✌️ Thank you to all the friends I made and the memories we shared throughout a short span of 2 weeks. From poutine to alpacas to playing more ping pong than I thought was possible, I couldn’t have asked for a better time. It was truly an unforgettable experience being with you all, and I can’t wait to do it all over again next year!
