20 YEARS OF MAWA’S KITCHEN. ONE INCREDIBLE STORY TO TELL. 💚

This October, we’re celebrating 20 years of Mawa’s Kitchen in a way we’ve never done before!

We’re thrilled to collaborate with Theatre Aspen (@theatreaspenco) and StoryCourse to present Stories from Mawa’s Kitchen, an extraordinary evening where food meets theatre and Chef Mawa McQueen (@mawamcqueen)’s journey comes to life.

Through an immersive five-course dining experience, guests will discover the stories, cultures, and flavors that have shaped Chef Mawa’s life, from her roots in Africa to her journey to Aspen.

Bringing Chef Mawa’s story to the stage is Broadway actress Asmeret Ghebremichael (@asmeretghebremichael), portraying Chef Mawa in this one-of-a-kind theatrical experience. The production is co-directed and written by Adam Kantor (@adamjkantor) and Charly Jaffe (@charlyjaffe), with additional writing by Leanne Antonio (@leannejantonio).

Together, this talented creative team brings to life a powerful celebration of two decades of passion, perseverance, and the art of storytelling through food.

Even more meaningful, proceeds will support Theatre Aspen’s education programs and scholarships throughout the Roaring Fork Valley!

Some places are meant to be remembered. Others remind us what matters.

Tucked beside the Roaring Fork River, the John Denver Sanctuary is more than a tribute to a musician who loved Aspen.

It’s a living celebration of nature, music and the simple beauty of slowing down.

A place to return to, not just visit.

Some of Aspen’s best traditions don’t need reservations.

Every summer Saturday, Colorado farmers, artisans and neighbors turn downtown Aspen into something more than a market.

Until next summer. Some things are worth coming back for.

Aspen was still a mining town. Yet it already believed a place this remote deserved culture, performance and a room where people could come together.

The Wheeler Opera House survived the silver bust, two fires and decades of silence.

Instead, Aspen chose to keep it.

Aspen doesn’t move on its own.

Behind every ski day, early morning, commute home and ride across the valley are people who quietly keep things moving.

Today, we’re celebrating the drivers, dispatchers, mechanics and everyone behind RFTA who connect our communities and make everyday life in Aspen possible.

Some of the people who make Aspen special aren’t the ones everyone comes to see.

They’re the ones who make it possible.

Thank you, RFTA. 💙

This is your sign to order the rotisserie chicken sandwich 👀

Juicy chicken, peppery arugula, tangy pickled onion, spicy aioli, all tucked into that focaccia. 🤤

Lunch at Mawa’s just hits different!

Serving lunch, Monday-Friday, 11am to 3pm 💚

Grand Moments. Extraordinary Destinations. ❄️🏔️
