Oar-inspiring moments, a little scull and determination, and crews making quite the splash. From the first catch to the final finish, these athletes certainly know how to pull their weight. Just a few outtakes I managed to catch while Boston’s iconic Head of the Charles Regatta was in full swing. Safe to say, I was completely swept away. #rowing #rowinglife #sportsphotography #regatta #boathouse @hocr1965

THE RECORD.

On Thursday, May 5, 1932, Ascension Day, a holiday in the Netherlands, the Varsity on the North Sea Canal was “attended by thousands,” De Tijd reported. Nereus of Amsterdam won the Oude Vier, the main event.

Its time, 10:36.2, was a new record for the main event, more than eight seconds faster than Laga’s mark from 1925, and it stood for 28 years. It fell only in 1960, when Njord and Argo rowed 10:35.6 and finished in a dead heat.

𝗝𝗼𝗻𝗴, 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘃𝗼𝗹 𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘂𝘀.

Watch the Amstelbeker in style. 🧥☀️The battle for the Palm and Fortuna cups demands elite rowing. But the view along the riverbanks should be just as spectacular! That means intense racing, cold beers, and impeccable outfits.

What to wear?Get inspired by traditional English regatta style.

Think linen jackets, club blazers, colorful chinos, and elegant summer dresses. Dress sharp and join us for a sophisticated day by the water.

Do: Blazers, button-downs, tailored trousers, dresses, or chic jumpsuits.

Don’t: Denim, hoodies, and athletic sneakers.

See you by the river! 🥂

After winning gold at last year’s World Rowing Championships, the Dutch Men’s Eight returns to Amsterdam as one of the crews to watch. With just one change to the boat since claiming the world title, much of the championship-winning crew remains intact.

The Dutch Eight has already shown its speed this season, taking gold at two World Cups. Now, they’ll take on the world’s best once again, this time on home water.

Want to see the Holland Eight in action? First up: the heats ➡ Saturday 29 August. 👊 Get your tickets on 2026wramsterdam.nl.
