Our friends from Casa Guanajuato Kennett Square truly helped bring the energy to this year’s Memorial Day Parade!

❤️🤍🩵

A few highlights:

🐎 Lienzo Charro Los Amigos, led by Pedro Camargo. A lienzo charro is a specialized arena designed for charrería, the national sport of Mexico, which features Western-style horse riding, roping, and cattle skills. It consists of a long, narrow alley (manga) leading to a circular ring where charros (Mexican horsemen) perform, often holding events like coleadero and jaripeo.

🎭 Los Mini Chinelos is a dance troupe that began in 2017 with a small group of just seven members. The group’s original goal was to showcase a traditional dance from their home country, Mexico. They have participated in various school, religious, family, and community cultural events. Over the years, the group has grown to more than 20 members. It is a very lively group, composed of children and teenagers, and is supported by the parents of the members.

🥁 Tonantzin Yaotecas is an Aztec/Mexica dance and cultural group that performs traditional ritual dances and drumming, such as for festivals like Powwow of Arts and Culture in Delaware. They specialize in preserving Indigenous traditions through dance.

Thank you to Casa Guanajuato Kennett Square for helping make the parade such a colorful celebration of culture, community, and tradition, and for coordinating the Spanish announcer booth. A special thank you to Mayra Castillo and Israel Herrera for serving as this year’s Spanish parade announcers.
