Model. Mum. Pilates girlie. @assetmaye took the @ummu.hub test and came out knowing her body better than ever.

One saliva sample. Her DNA, her epigenetics, her biological age, all read through a lens built for female biology, not data averaged from men.

The verdict? Super happy, and a lot wiser about what really makes her tick.

Your turn. Link in bio 🧬

Postcards from a long hot summer ☀️
(ALL TOGETHER NOW… 🎶 and it’s 95 degrees in the shade… 🎶)
Live boldly, love deeply and know that pleasure is one of the only things that mitigates vigilance.

Which sounds obvious, but is actually quite radical when you think about it. When we’re feeling anxious, stressed or on high alert, the instinct is usually to tighten the reins, control more, optimise more, fix more. Yet one of the most powerful ways to tell the nervous system that it’s safe is to experience something that feels genuinely good.

For some reason, our culture has become a little suspicious of pleasure for pleasure’s sake. Of course, there’s a tipping point …pleasure can become excess, consumption or a way of numbing ourselves. But that’s very different from allowing ourselves to genuinely enjoy our lives.

In fact, when we look at the Blue Zones — places where people tend to live exceptionally long lives…. And yes I’m banging on about Blue zones again 🤷‍♀️ … connection, community, belonging and the simple pleasures are woven into the fabric of everyday life. Pleasure isn’t something they have to earn, it’s part of living.

And perhaps that’s something we’ve forgotten, and we all just need to chill out a bit more! (I won’t go first but I think it’s something we all need to do 🤷‍♀️)

I thought 2016 was four years ago 🤷‍♀️

So this is where I was at if you can be arsed 🤷‍♀️😂 After years of breaking my back celebrity styling, I was finally trying to find a balance between my career as a Fashion and Beauty Director of a magazine and training to be a health coach. The irony? It was all getting too much. I was up at 5am every day for yoga with my teacher, studying in between getting a weekly magazine on shelves. I got such a high from speaking out about things that mattered to me, being on TV with friends, and meeting my idols—but every weekend, all I wanted was to be back on the South Coast with the friends and family I grew up with. Even the stinking mud at low tide made me happier than finding (and lurking) by the door where the canapés came out at an event 🤷‍♀️ (I was a pro at that)

I didn’t know how I could keep the job I loved and live by the sea. I wanted my own business but still to keep a toe in journalism and London. I wanted a job that helped people, to write about the things that mattered to me, and most importantly, I didn’t want to work in an office anymore. I just had no idea how to do it all. I realised I was a hybrid of my two idols. Wait for it, Jennifer Anniston in Along Came Polly (hippy with a pet ferret) and Andy Anderson in How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days… journalist on a women’s magazine who wanted to break free. 🫠 Also dated Matthew McConaghey in movie which sadly didn’t happen for me.

In my twenties I thought I was too old (yup) to start a new career. Turns out, that’s never true. Ligaments and mobility take years to build, and the same goes for the habits, skills, and resilience in your brain. You won’t see instant results, but you do it for the future you…ten years from now. Strength—both physical and mental—is malleable… it responds to time, consistency, and patience. Trading office culture for downward dogs, long walks on the beach, and yes… occasionally spilling smoothies on my laptop while working remotely has done wonders. And the myth that bodies or brains get rigid with age? Total nonsense.
(can we bring back Mollie wet-look skinny jeans, anyone? … No? Let’s leave them in 2016 then 🤷‍♀️)
