I Got It From My Mama: When comes to saris, I love shopping my mother’s closet, she has a collection B. Chorosch saris, which are just timeless beauties. Swiss born Madame Bertha ‘Pape’ Chorosch moved to Mumbai in the 1930s. She started one of India’s first fashion labels, B. Chorosch. Credited with bringing in the trend of French chiffon saris, delicate handcrafted shadow work was her speciality. She became the go-to designer for Indian royalty who teamed her saris with pearls and art deco inspired jewellery pieces from French luxury houses. Chorosch was a sari modernizer, yet her pieces are timeless and so elegant. By coincidence both mom and I wore Chorosch saris last night for a wedding celebration. I GOT IT FROM MY MAMA: This yellow ribbon sweater transports me back to my childhood. My mother bought it from Hong Kong about 35 years ago (@lanecrawford , I think) she teamed it with beautifully tailored linen yellow trousers and pearls. So chic. Thirty years later wearing it makes me feel surrounded by love 💛. That’s the power of heirloom pieces. Really we need to shop like our mamas did—putting quality first, buying things that worked for their personal style and not just because its “trending”. #mystyle #sujsays #sujselects
