After a couple of pulls of @asspocketwhiskey, I asked guitar legend Derek Trucks about the March 2026 auction at Christie’s for Jerry Garcia’s Tiger guitar.

It was part of late Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay’s collection of cultural artifacts and sold to @family_guitars with a winning bid of $11.56m. Because pics of Trucks at the auction went viral, everyone assumed he was doing the bidding….

The next night, he took it on stage at the Beacon.

I asked guitar legend Derek Trucks how he and the @family_guitars guys (…who are also partners in his @asspocketwhiskey) how they celebrated winning the auction for Jerry Garcia’s Tiger guitar back in March 2026. Trucks tells me that they were going to go out for drinks after the gavel on the winning $11.56m bid, but he got a call from his wife Sue to come over to Cyndi Lauper’s house for a homemade Italian dinner.
