Home. I’ve finished with my summer travels… and summer turned to fall while I was in Ohio, literally. Thanks to Old Navy, I bought some extra clothes to keep from freezing. Here are some moments from my trip…

When we landed we first went to Galion, where my Dad grew up and graduated from H.S. His 70th H.S. reunion was a fun gathering, as it always is! There were maybe a dozen of them this year with their spouses and/or other family members. The food was good, the company was better and the pictures were fun to take. We all had fun at the Euchre table playing hand after hand, and the celebrations of friendship were to be admired. Connie, Jo & Julie, I love you!

Seeing @deedeechilcote @the_meshelley and @seizeyourdaywithmichellerenee fills my soul in a way few other things do. Teaching Michelle to knit has been a huge bright spot in my life… and knitting with her on her sofa, no pressure to do anything else, was a much welcomed reprieve from all the hustle and bustle in my life recently. Time passes so easily with people you truly love. Donatos pizza, tea at @asterisksupperclub and knitting fingerless mitts!!!

I was happy to see water in the Rio Grande as I flew into Sunport yesterday. And Lily? She’s very happy I’m home!

Tea Time!!! - Asterisk’s Supper Club
Pumpkin Chai Latte (Seasonal) (8/10) - Literally tastes like you’re drinking pumpkin pie. I like it best with 2 raw cane sugar cubes. Will definitely be ordering again before falls over.

Asterisk Burger no bacon no onions with regular fries (9/10) - As usual the patty is perfectly cooked and the fries have just the right amount of salt. Idk if I just hadn’t noticed it before or if there was a change but the pickles are sweet, thankfully they’re not overwhelmingly sweet like some other pickles but i prefer mine dill.

Maple Pecan Scone (seasonal) (10/10) - My favorite seasonal scone so far. I usually hate nuts but they made the pecan work really well. The maple glaze kinda reminded me of a maple donut which blended great with the raspberry preserves.

Asterisk Supper Club is one of those places that I will NEVER get tired of. 📚✨ @asterisksupperclub

First of all… the VIBE. Floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, chandeliers, vintage teacups, cozy little corners and menus tucked inside actual books?! I swear every time I walk in here I immediately enter my Princess Belle era. 🌹📖 Give me a library, a gorgeous table and an unreasonable amount of good food and I am HOME.

And speaking of the food… OMG. The food. I genuinely don’t know how else to say it: some of the best I’ve ever had. This visit we had the beef short rib with garlic mashed potatoes + veggies and the chicken marsala with roasted chicken, Marsala mushroom sauce, green beans + mashed potatoes and I would happily order BOTH again tomorrow. The short rib especially?! Fall-apart, comfort-food perfection. 🤤

Then there’s afternoon tea. The cutest mismatched teacups, tea sandwiches, scones, desserts and your choice of teas served on the tiered tray — basically the exact activity Belle would be doing on her day off. 😂 Asterisk actually specializes in Afternoon Tea alongside elevated comfort food + craft cocktails, which somehow makes this place even more me.

And I HAVE to mention the people behind it. The owners (one of which is the chef) and team are truly some of the most wonderful humans, and you can feel how much love has gone into creating this place. It’s whimsical without trying too hard, cozy while still feeling special, and one of those locally owned spots that makes me love Westerville even more. ❤️

Basically: come for the Beauty & the Beast library fantasy, stay because you just ate one of the best meals of your life, then start planning when you can come back. 😂📚✨

Last Week’s Tea Time (I really need to set a reminder or something lol) -
Chestnut & Apricot Oolong Tea (5/10) - It’s really earthy and woody. I had to use 3 sugar cubes to even like it enough to drink it. Definitely not for me but if you like warm earthy flavors this would be perfect for you

Asterisk’s Burger with regular fries(8/10) - It tasted different than I remember which threw me off at first but it was still enjoyable.

Tea Time!!! - Asterisk’s Supper Club
Rosehip Hibiscus (9/10) - Lovely floral with a slight citrus undertone. Tastes best with white sugar rather than raw sugar. Great summer tea.

Braised Beef Short Rib (8/10) - Very tender, it practically fell apart on my fork. Honestly my favorite part were the mashed potatoes im a big potato fan but i’ve never had mashed potatoes this good. The Broccoli was a little over seasoned. It wad hard to taste the broccoli at all. the veggies were a nice touch though I would prefer raw celery over cooked. There is also cooked onions which I don’t like but if you do it worth ordering.

Seasonal Peach Scone (6/10) - It was really dry. If there wasn’t the raspberry jam idk if I’d be able to eat it. It did taste good though. If they had mixed buts of the peach in the dough rather than just putting it on top I think it would have tasted better.

A little full-circle Mommy & Me moment 🫖💗

When my oldest was getting ready for kindergarten, I took her to Asterisk Supper Club for a special tea party. So when we moved back to the Columbus area, I was SO excited to recreate that experience with my youngest.

And of course…both kids can’t possibly like the same things. 😂

My youngest has officially decided she is not a tea person, but I still had the BEST time. The seasonal peach scone and chocolate peanut butter shortbread were absolute perfection, and the whole experience was such a fun way to make another special memory.

So don’t necessarily take this five-year-old’s review…just trust mine. 😂

Definitely add Asterisk Supper Club in Uptown Westerville to your list of fun Columbus-area experiences with kids!

Tea Time - Asterisk’s Supper Club
Black Current Black Tea (7/10) - I feel like this is more a winter tea. Nice deep flavor and a rich warm sent.

Caesar Salad with Crispy Chicken (7/10) - I know I haven’t had their Caesar in a bit but it tastes like a different dressing and I like the other one better. This one is a bit to vinegary for my taste. Also using shredded lettuce for a salad makes it harder to fork up.

Classic Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup (8/10) - While together this is a great combination I think there should be a little more seasoning in the soup.
