There are some moments that make you stop and really think about the journey.

This is one of them. ❤️

Being named International Alum of the Year is an honour I’m incredibly grateful for, but more than anything, it has made me reflect on how far this journey has taken me.

From Jamaica, to Japan, the US and the UK, my international experiences have shaped the way I see the world, the way I build and the person I continue to become.

Today, I’m fortunate to work across food, drink and wellness through @thematchayaad , while mentoring MBA students, supporting international alumni engagement and championing ethical innovation.

But behind all of that are people, opportunities, lessons and moments of uncertainty that have shaped my path.

I’m deeply grateful to everyone who has believed in me, encouraged me, opened a door, shared their wisdom or simply reminded me to keep going.

This award means so much because it feels like recognition not just of what I’ve achieved, but of the journey that brought me here.

I’m proud. I’m grateful. And I’m still taking it all in. 🌍❤️

Thank you.

Last week we celebrated Aston Business School students as they crossed the stage at our graduation ceremonies 👏

Amongst them were our MBA students, and a week ago we held a reception following the ceremony bringing together our MBA and DBA graduates and celebrating their achievements.

We're so proud of you all, and look forward to seeing what comes next 🎓

We are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Anisha Chakraborty, a 28-year-old from Kolkata, who recently completed her Master’s degree with distinction from Aston University and was looking forward to beginning a promising new chapter in her life and career in the UK.

Her passing is a profound loss for her family, friends, and the wider Indian student and alumni community.
On behalf of the NISAU community, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Anisha’s parents, brother, family members, friends, classmates, colleagues and loved ones. Our thoughts are with them during this incredibly difficult time.

We also acknowledge the kindness and support shown by members of the local community who have come together to help Anisha’s family. A fundraiser has been established to support the repatriation of her mortal remains to India and assist with related expenses.

I am delighted as a former staff and from Aston Alumni Community that WINGS will be facilitating a Wellbeing Day at Aston University with #AstonStudentUnion music festival day Astonbury 26.

For over two decades in academia, student and staff wellbeing has remained deeply close to my heart.

Whether teaching Physiology, Neuroscience, or Organisational Behaviour, one message has always stayed constant — taking care of the mind is just as important as taking care of the body.

Today’s students are navigating immense pressures exams, performance expectations, uncertainty, and the emotional demands that often come with stepping into real-life challenges for the very first time.

That’s why I strongly believe in helping young people validate their feelings, understand the science behind their emotions, and most importantly, equip themselves with practical tools to manage overwhelm when emotions begin to take over. So delighted Dr Ranjit Sagoo is joining us to share NLP tools.

Plus we will be bringing together outdoor Tai Chi sessions for staff and students, alongside engaging wellbeing activities and conversations with breath experts, goody bags and much more …

Many thanks Thomas Aryton and team for your amazing support

Looking forward to creating a space for connection, calm, and emotional wellbeing together

I almost forgot this is what Astonbury is all about… 👀☀️

The music, the chaos, the unreal food, the main character moments with your mates and that end of year campus energy that just hits different 🎶✨

5th June is about making memories, soaking up the sun and closing out the year the right way 🔥

If you haven’t locked in your ticket yet… this is your sign 😉

The music, the food, the activities, the performances… it’s all happening on 5th June and you do not want to be hearing about it after.

Now’s the time to sort the fits, lock in the plans and make sure the whole group chat has tickets!! 🎟️
