Come, open your senses to this year's happenings at the Oranjeboomstraat 109 open studios.

Start Saturday between noon and 1 PM with one of this year's TOT-Garden artists, Astrid Moors @astrid.moors, as she celebrates the Plane tree, which, through her diligence, recently became a monument!

Come smell and taste the visual gardens of Maria Ikonomopoulou @mikonomo as she presents excerpts from her research in her quest to find the meaning of house and home for local residents.

Both TOT-Garden artists are in the building on Saturday only.

Open your ears and heart on Sunday at 4 PM to Lucija Gregov’s @lu_ci_____ / as she pushes the boundaries of the traditional cello through improvisation.

Explore the quirky mind of Panida Petchara @taaaaaaaaeto during her first solo exhibition: a sparrow under your pillow, in a playground of moving image, installation, photography & performance.

Wander and dive into the works of this year’s OB109 studio artists:
@yesumyesum
@rickkorenkunst
@marleinevdwerf
@annaramsair,
and Leslie Robbins with paintings by Cor Drost (1951-2026)

Don't be shy.

We at OB109 and TOT would like to thank the following for sponsoring this weekend:

In de laatste editie van BK-informatie is er aandacht voor het werk van Astrid Moors (@astrid.moors) en haar artist in residence in de voormalige dierentuin van Emmen. In haar onderzoek brengt ze landschap, architectuur en herinnering samen en onderzoekt ze hoe de sporen van een plek kunnen blijven voortleven, verschuiven en nieuwe betekenissen krijgen. Swipe voor een kijkje in haar werk.

The view from my studio (a small playground, trees and blocks of flats) on a busy street in Rotterdam Zuid, has no direct connection to my work. Although trees do feature in my work, in abundance, as do houses. With an underlying sense of the undeniable beauty of climate stress.

Review 29-3 Art Index Tour: Meet the Scene with Insiders

As part of the final day of Rotterdam Art Week 2026, this special Art Index Tour marked the launch of the new Art Index R'dam website (alongside the Art in Rotterdam Tours .nl website), as well as eight years of collaboration between founder Erika and tour partner Anne-Marie Ros. The tour offered a personal and grounded way to experience the contemporary art scene in Rotterdam South—centred on meeting the people behind the various presentations and locations.

Starting at C-3 Studios in Charlois, the tone was set by openness and conversation. At about A woman, the exchange with artists Rolina Nel and Wilma Kun (Huis der Zotheid / Vrouwendag R'dam) unfolded over coffee, offering real insight into both the work and the process. Encounters with Iris Cornelis (Jumpstart Space) during Echo Hold and Ove Lucas (CBK Rotterdam) in Vergeet niet in te checken further reinforced this approach: direct, informal, and focused on the people shaping and presenting the work.

At Foundation B.A.D., we followed the pink cord through the building, which led us straight into a performance and a preview of ENERGY II, adding a sense of immediacy and immersion.

The tour continued to Art Rotterdam at Ahoy, where the scale and energy shifted significantly. As an international fair, it brought together a wide range of galleries and perspectives, making it inspiring but also demanding. Rather than trying to take in everything, we focused on the Rotterdam layer—artists, galleries, and initiatives connected to the city—which kept the experience grounded and in dialogue with what we had seen earlier.

This contrast—between intimate, conversation-led encounters in Rotterdam South and the broader international context of the fair—gave the tour its strength.

What made our experience stand out was its balance between context and encounter: a calm, unhurried walk that created space for genuine meetings with the people behind the work. Not just seeing the scene, but engaging with it.
