Communities can be built on a number of shared factors:
🌳 Shared place
🌈 Shared identities
✊🏾 Shared ideals
🫂 Shared experiences

A lack of community can often come from not actively engaging (or feeling safe to) in the community that exists around us. If you are a community organiser, you may also feel it due to burnout or a lack or support in sharing the load.

👣 @astronautwithin and I have created this little bingo to help you find small and big ways, depending on your capacities, to build connections with the people around you! Create little footsteps in your own neighbourhood that help you see others and help others see you.

Capitalism thrives on you choosing convenience and transactional interactions over genuine moments of human connection and community resilience. Remember, a community is not a crisis line. It's not obligated to show up only when you need it. A thriving community is built through a mutual and ongoing relationship of caring for each other and our environment.

Living among people.

In the solitude of living alone, and as a vagabond. The luxury of living is in finding yourself living among people,
and their homes.

To witness the passion, and the living.
The resting and the falling apart.
Designs stacked over the other.

Real living is not in neatly packed towels,
It's in the misplaced items on the shelf.

At Meghu's place, Rakkar Road, Dharamsaala, Himachal.

My ability to show up for something like this stall is a testament to my support systems - my family (related and chosen), my friends, colleagues and peers, neuro-queer community, and of course, many elders. I've spent this year trying to understand and intentionally build more sustainable community. And these are the folks that have inspired, held, and brainstormed with me.

As a token of my gratitude to my community, I will also be showcasing some of their amazing artwork and resources! @reenaginwala's work draws on Non Violent Communication and folkarts to offer reflective prompts and mediation tools. @ekaurcoffee has 3D printed some of my favourite pocket sized fidget toys. @astronautwithin's visionary art draws on archetypal knowledge and is deeply rooted in alignment with nature.

Come by this Sunday to @puneartsandhealthfestival at @punehandmadepapers between 4-8 pm to support me and my community!

For the first edition of #upcycledisco a big pat on the collective back of my pop-up kings and queens @sharlho @1himalayanthrift @studioflaneuse.in Thank you for adding so much character to the conscious fashion zone. Let's brainstorm on how your on-ground visibility can translate more tangibly into engagement for the next edition.

Disco has always stood for inclusivity, freedom of expression, and collective joy. Its origins lie in creating safe, celebratory spaces for those marginalized by mainstream culture.

Upcycle Disco seeks to reclaim disco’s essence while upcycling it two ways:

Cultural Upcycling: taking disco’s foundational values of inclusivity, freedom, and joy, and rechanneling them into the reach for a consciousness-driven, climate-conscious world.

This also includes upcycling the attitude towards styling clothes...shifting fashion from fast-consumption to sustainable, expressive, and reimagined choices.

Musical Upcycling: Blending classic disco grooves with house, techno, and contemporary electronic textures, keeping the heartbeat of disco alive while giving it a fresh skin.

Alongside the dance floor, you’ll find experiences like:

Enso in motion was incepted as a result of a feedback received from a participant from our last neurographic doodling experience – "the deep listening session followed by the art session felt a bit stiff, some movement would have helped." Enso, a single brush stroke art form had a conceptually in-built potential to blend movement with breath work with painting, especially when we made the process brush-free. The participants were guided to integrate sounds in their paint strokes, making the experience rich in immersion and layered.
If you are an artist and what we do interests you, DM us and we'd love to collaborate with you!

I have never worked with sound as a medium before, and it was interesting to note how it worked through my body. While electronic music sent me in a loop of what I was trying to create on the canvas, the intermittent flute brought me out of it gently.
