Family in tow, plus friend went to check out one of our Vienna Design Week highlights — and this one was very Vienna indeed. 🌭 (thnx, Yara) POTPOURRI.STUDIO took on the cultural heritage of the good old Wiener Würstelstand at Atelier FË: Sacherwürstel, beer, DJ set, art by Rudolf Fitz and a rather lovely mix of Austrian design — Carl Auböck, Lobmeyr, Studio Dessi and more. And something founder Felix told us that I somehow had missed: Vienna’s Würstelstand culture has officially been recognised as intangible UNESCO cultural heritage since 2024. Quite right, too. Where else do all walks of life meet over a Käsekrainer at 2am? Design meets Würstelstand culture. What’s not to love? A perfect little Vienna Design Week Saturday detour — good people, good design, good Würstel. #ViennaDesignWeek #ViennaDesign #TheBatzCollection #AustrianDesign #ViennaCulture

September. In the mountains. In the morning. On the floor. At work. Beautiful tools. The sky above. The plate from Copenhagen. The other fish. A new art fair venue. At night. At the border to another world. Using imagination. Ready to be photographed. At the museum. At one of my favorite stores. In the woods. A feast on the plate. At Vienna Design Week. Art & Design. The beauty you didn‘t expect. Thanks for all of this.

As part of the Vienna Design Week 20th anniversary, Potpourri Studio turns its attention to the cultural heritage of Vienna’s Würstelstand. With Marco Dessí, we’ve invited one of our main project partners to showcase a curated selection of his product designs, not only blending in contemporary pieces into a traditional Würstelstand but also with his unique furniture designs within the gallery space of Atelier FĒ. STUDIO DESSÍ is a Vienna-based design studio exploring the intersection of materials, processes and production through commissioned and self-initiated work. Established by Marco Dessí in 2009, the studio works with international clients and cultural institutions across a variety of scales, ranging from furniture and product design to spatial solutions. As one of our Würstelstand highlights, crafted from an extruded glass profile, the Studio Light appears to float effortlessly in space. A study in transparency, rhythm, and form, it merges elegance with straightforward contemporary ideas, where form becomes attitude. Whether suspended from the ceiling, mounted on the wall, or highlighting a unique Viennese Würstelstand, the object maintains its light and architectural presence while creating a continuous dialogue between illumination and structure. Dessí’s designs continue throughout the gallery space, giving the Dakar chair its own platform. Dakar is a chair for in- and outdoor use. The backrest of this stackable chair is made out of aluminum sheets, which demonstrate the stability as well as the flexibility of the material. Partially wrapping the legs of the chair like a cloth, the bent metal sheet results in a backrest that gives way like a spring when you lean back. @studio_dessi products and furniture designs will be on display from 25th of September to 4th of October at @atelier.fe Fri 25.9.–Sun 27.9., 12pm–6pm Mon 28.9.–Wed 30.9., by appointment Thu 1.10.–Fri 2.10., 12pm–6pm Cocktail: Sat 3.10., 4pm–10pm Sun 4.10., 12pm–6pm Atelier FĒ.
