On View: Studio Iron

Studio Iron (@studioiron_) is now open at Brompton Design District.

Founded by creative director Isamaya Ffrench (@isamayaffrench), the interdisciplinary platform brings together artists, designers and makers working across art, design, fashion and contemporary culture.

Following its debut at Saatchi Yates earlier this year, Studio Iron presents a wide-ranging group exhibition spanning furniture, objects, sculpture, textiles and experimental practices. Emerging and established voices come together in a presentation exploring the unexpected connections that can emerge between different approaches to making.

SKIN CHAIR
Skin Chair embodies a social and behavioral duality through the skin it stages.

A radical steel structure (the bones) and a flexible leather seat (the skin).
Two seating positions suggested by an asymmetry, a single armrest and a backrest.

Primitive garment, the skin dresses and conceals, like a neglected neglected, to the opacity of a thick leather mask. The skin conceals as much as it reveals, traces, scars and glyphs visible on its surface betray a past, an intimacy, an identity.
The skin is suggestive by itself, not as a simple neglected.

The skin is flesh and depth, it is mutable, when the skin becomes bone, contains and carries the weight of man.

In August 2026, The Great Design Disaster presents an exhibition bringing together artists, designers, architects, and creatives, most of whom have never worked with jewellery before, to create works at the scale of the body. Jewellery becomes a medium for exploring identity, perception, presence, absence, and transformation.

As I was walking up the stairs at Villa Pestarini, one of two @alcova.milano venues, I ran into @uchronia_world founder Julien Sebban, who was excited about a particular space near the second floor landing. It was, in fact, fabulous. The focus: An open work weave made from raw jute fiber, which looped and draped in billowy fashion around the room, anchored by a modern banquette with shelves and built-in storage. A collab between Parisian fashion house Isse (@isse.edition ) and architect @sophiedries_ , the rustic fishnet-like fabric, with its irregularities and subtle color variations, contrasts with the more refined interior decor, which was designed as a reading room. Some accessories—ceramics and tableware, were specially created for the space. The wavy Styx mottled mirrors, crafted from polished sheet aluminum with welded brass, are a Dries x @ateliermoore product.
