I have been walking these streets 33 years. Love this hood & all its animals, I am often seen with my besties dogs! @thevelvetlead #urbanstyle #westvillagelife #lovedogs

The summer of ‘91 I moved to NYC ….Times Square still had strip bars, and there were Bodegas on every corner….real punks lived in Tompkins Sq park and the subway had windows that opened and a heavy metal soundtrack. Soho was a crack nest and generations of artists still lived in lofts. The garbage union and film unions were on a strike so the trash piled high and “Law and Order “ was born- it was a hot hot summer just like this one and mischievous Italian boys sold fireworks and lsd on Center st and local “Socials” were real mob boss speakeasies, regardless I stayed through it all and NYC changed for “the better” we got better djs but lost our best dance dives, gained decent coffee (not from NW) but lost PR cafeconleches, and sure we harvested elevated grocery stores, more vegan options and craft cocktails exponentially, duplicated many yoga studios too but still no free range goats but since Covid it’s changed even more and now there are so many more middle aged homeless and nail salons, excellent happy hours and it’s never been so posh in the west village with the highline, the Pidgeon statue, plus all the children of billionaires grungingout on planet R.Owen’s and techbros and aztecs blazing on e-bikes everywhere. Expect more changes ahead, true NYC’ers know how to move cool through it all ! We got this! #therealrevolutionisinthespirit #myartmylife #artislife #nycartist #faithandtrust

KERALA FEAST : my new friend, ondi, has been giving me wonderful advice on all things goa : where to stay, best natural cafes, where to do yoga, etc. what a gift! now the proverbial "icing on the cake", she invited me to lunch at her in-laws home, out in the goan countryside (via a scooter ride from laguna anjuna), where "amma" made the most delicious meal with the food of her native kerala. swipe right to see the four square : clockwise from top left: kalachanna (masala black chickpea), avial (veg stew with coconut), mung dal, + kicheree (wheat grain + mung). next slide is a delicious coconut + rice crepe, called appam. "amma" makes the appam in next slide. #amazingmeal #goa #keralafood #deliciousfood #therealthing #atelierom @atelierom
