Se transformó un parque semiolvidado, tomado por personas que hacían daño, en una huerta comunitaria y mariposario.

Intervenciones de este tipo, cuando además involucramos a la comunidad y actores interesados, amplifican el impacto y el sentido de pertenencia y de cambio positivo, además del aporte visual y psicológico que hacen el color y las formas al espacio.

For 25 years, all I could think about was to help others. Not because I am kind or better than anyone, not at all. Quite the opposite! I just had this urge to do things that would change people's lives for the better.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There was always that burning desire to help others that I could never explain. I lived in Mozambique, Africa, for a while and worked as a development instructor - One of the best years of my life.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Mozambique is one of the ten most impoverished counties in the world. They are so rich in natural resources; however, the country is still recovering from a 16-year civil war. According to the World Bank's most recent estimate in 2014, over 46% of Mozambicans live below the poverty line.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Why am I saying all that? Because I look around and I wonder where did all this go? Where is this desired I had before? Why is it no longer here?
With all the weddings being canceled, shoots not happening, I feel powerless again. This pandemic has hurt many of us in several different ways. To some, it cost their lives, to other their finances, and others their mental health.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Today I am feeling a little hopeless, and I only wish I will get to the end of life, look back, and feel I gave back to society as much as Mozambique contributed to change me.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When I left the country, I left behind Bonito, a six years old boy that could barely speak Portuguese. He was so full of joy, and as I left, he gave me the biggest and most honest hug I have ever received.
In the words of a dear friend @ateranorlich : "I still don't have the necessary words to describe what Moçambique awakens in me. I will forever need time to understand the processes that were unleashed inside me. But the present is all I have, and because I desire it with unbridled love, I am rewarded with unsurpassed happiness!" It sounded better in Spanish. 🤷🏻‍♂️
My word of the year is GROWTH. What about you?
