☀️ Thank you to everyone who joined us for our 2026 Summer Solstice Observance.

From the immersive sounds of @atlasmaior inside the Chapel to the powerful rhythms of @kaminaritaikohouston on the Plaza, we marked the longest day of the year through music, reflection, and community.

The Summer Solstice reminds us to pause, embrace the light, and reconnect with ourselves, one another, and the world around us. We are grateful to our extraordinary artists and everyone who shared this meaningful evening with us.

Here's to carrying that spirit of contemplation, creativity, and connection into the season ahead. ✨

This Sunday at The Wild Detectives in Oak Cliff. I’ll be playing both sets at this show. First set I’ll be playing drums in an improvised trio with Joshua Thomson on alto saxophone and my brother Aaron Gonzalez on acoustic bass. For the second set both me and Matthew Frerck, my bandmate from Trio Glossía and Chicago/Texas Sound Ensemble, will be joining up with Atlas Maior for a beautiful collaboration, bringing acoustic bass and vibraphone to the equation. We hope to see you!

Austin-based ensemble Atlas Maior comes to Dallas to present Palindromlar, their latest album. Blending progressive jazz, free improvisation, and the musical traditions of the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and India, the ensemble has developed an internationally recognized sound marked by fearless improvisation, dynamic interplay, and textural depth. Atlas Maior founding members Joshua Thomson (alto saxophone, flutes) and Josh Peters (oud, lutar), will be joined by North Texas musicians, Stefan González (drums) and Matthew Frerck (upright bass), for a special performance. Among many other projects, Matthew and Stefan conform two-thirds of Trio Glossía.

The ensemble creates music informed by maqamat (Middle Eastern modal systems), contemporary jazz harmony, and exploratory improvisational practices. Utilizing instrumentation including oud, lutar, Chinese hulusi, saxophone, and flutes, the group frequently moves between structured compositional frameworks and open improvisation, creating immersive performances that expand and contract through a deep commitment to dynamics and atmosphere. Atlas Maior has released eight studio albums and has toured extensively throughout the United States and internationally, including Morocco, Spain, France and Turkey. In 2019, the ensemble was named a City of Austin Cultural Ambassador, and in 2023 received the City of Austin’s Live Music Fund grant.
