Something super is coming…

Miss NDSU is less than a month away!!

Miss NDSU is a philanthropic mock pageant hosted by Alpha Tau Omega Leadership Fraternity in support of Down Home Fargo. Contestants from across all of campus compete to win the title of Miss NDSU. Miss NDSU has been a longstanding tradition of North Dakota State University for many years.

Down Home empowers lives by furnishing homes for families and individuals in the Fargo-Moorhead area emerging from homelessness. Down Home’s Vision includes a community where every individual lives in a supported, stable, and nurturing home.

@joshuaboschee is the new Mayor of Fargo!

We have been friends for 30 years, with a lot of history and memories.

Key Club nerds in high school.
NDSU alums
Fraternity brothers at @ato.ndsu
Co-founders of SML
Leaders within NDSU’s Student Government
Builders of @hatchbrokeredbyreal
Launchers of @realbrokerage for North Dakota and Minnesota

And thrown in there was a bacon eating contest I got to emcee - and Josh brought home a championship!

30 years of building, growing, and laughing.

And now Josh is the Mayor of Fargo!

I’m so damn proud of you, pal! You are a gift!

Earlier this week we had a social with the brothers of Alpha Tau Omega! We had a great time playing board games and Mario Kart! It was a fun way to unwind, especially with the stress of finals coming up. We're already looking forward to the next one!

I joined a frat because of gin and Hawaiian Punch.

Let me explain.

Freshman year. I was drinking my way through college.

Grades down. Liver damage up.

Then I saw a dorm flyer: “Poker, Hooters Girls, and Free Food at Alpha Tau Omega.”

I wasn’t joining a fraternity. I was just being a giver and supporting their efforts.

So my buddy Buz and I showed up. We gambled. We ate. We sat awkwardly near the Hooters girls.

The next day, we got a bid – an invitation to join.

We had zero interest.

But the bid came with a party invite for Saturday night.

So we begrudgingly agreed to hang out with women and drink.

We walked in around 11pm. The house was trashed. Drunk people everywhere. All that was left in the kitchen was gin and Hawaiian Punch.

My stomach still churns typing that.

I mixed myself a tree sap and red drink and found someone to talk to.

His name was Casey.

He was genuine. He was kind.

And after 20 minutes, he said something I’ve never forgotten.

“Hatch, we could really use a guy like you.”

That’s it. That was the whole pitch.

And it worked.

Because he didn’t make himself look like the asset.

He made ME feel like the asset.

We joined. We pledged. Then all hell broke loose.

A party. Big punishments. And when the dust settled – 3 active brothers and 3 pledges remained.

That’s it.

70 years of ATO history at NDSU rested on 6 guys.

So we decided to stop being frat boys and become fraternity men.

We rebuilt from the ground up. Top grades on campus. Most service hours. Tens of thousands raised for charity.

We changed all our stars.

Here’s the thing about selling, leading, or recruiting:

Most of us are out here making ourselves look like the asset.

Casey flipped it.

He made me feel wanted. He made me feel like I had something to offer.

And that one sentence put me in debt to him – in the best way.

Who do you know that needs to hear “we could really use a guy like you”?

Say it today. Mean it.

It might change their whole story.

Much love, my friends.
