I’d like to take a moment of silence

more of this life

Against all odds, I did in fact make it through 3 months in Provincetown.

6 weeks of Spring Returning Residencies and 9 weeks of Summer Workshops at @fineartsworkcenter. I worked with over 60 faculty and hundreds of participants. There were readings, artist talks, Friday participant showcases, bottomless cups of Snowy Owl iced coffee, late-night photo printing sessions, after-midnight emergency calls, broken water heaters, housing puzzles, parking puzzles, book orders, spreadsheets, emails (so many emails), and questions I had absolutely never considered before someone walked up to me and asked them.

Somewhere entangled in all this, Provincetown also became my actual life.

I lived in Ptown. I worked in Ptown. I made friends in Ptown. I got to spend time with writers and artists I had admired for years and discover that, thankfully, they were also people I could laugh with over drinks. I had two STUPIDLY AMAZING Program Assistants who made an extremely intense summer considerably more fun.

I danced. I ate oysters and lobster. I had Rosie’s burritos for dinner multiple times a week. I drank several afterwork cocktails and journaled. I eventually sang at drag karaoke. I wandered Commercial Street…people watching and taking photos. I took 40,000 selfies. On more than one occasion, I stared wistfully at the water, blurry-eyed from fatigue but grateful to be where I was.

There were beautiful days and completely absurd days and days when I was so tired I was not capable of forming complete sentences.

And then, just as I was preparing to leave this week, came SPIDER BITE GATE. Prown apparently decided I had not suffered (enough) and sent me home with an unthinkable number of spider bites, a blister the size of Cape Cod, and an infected leg. But I have antibiotics and I’m on the mend, so 🤷🏾‍♀️

I’m tired. I’m proud. I’m a little stunned.

Provincetown. Summer. 2026. So that happened.

I’m just back from an amazing week teaching at the @fineartsworkcenter in Provincetown. I had a wonderful group of students who brought their full selves to the workshop, bravely shared their truths, and supported one another.

I also celebrated my 40th birthday with friends and family, made pictures with new and old friends, took early morning runs by the ocean, worked on my upcoming exhibition at @twenty_summers with the @emergent_art_advisory team, and ate my fill of lobster rolls, clam strips, and fudge (all of which I really only eat in Ptown).

Being surrounded by love, community, creativity, and the ocean was incredibly restorative and fulfilling- I’m always so grateful for the opportunity to spend time at FAWC and in this magical place.
