Where’s that from?
Mainly curtain & blind fabrics in this post with a few light fittings and my favourite wallpaper.

Curtain and blinds can really enhance a room. I’m getting braver with my choice and love the added colour. Upstairs are all lined to keep the morning sun from peeking in. We also lined the lounge curtains as these frame huge single pane sash windows so they really help to keep the cold out in winter. Cafe curtains are just for privacy so it’s suits to have a more flimsy feel and I love that look. The new blind in our kitchen is unlined and I love how it keeps the sun out whilst creating beautiful shadows from the garden.

If you have any questions let me know?

My step by step guide as to how to make a DIY, hotel inspired headboard with (or without) integrated sockets. This is a DIY we did in 2023, I was very pregnant and just wanted it done (not to document) so the content is not to my usual standard! But, if you went to make your own, it’s easy to follow. The headboard is still going strong and we still love it! It compliments our @carpediembedsofsweden bed perfectly and is the timeless, statement feature of our bedroom.

First step is to decide on the design. There are so many beautiful options but I wanted to keep it quite simple for my first DIY attempt. I opted for 3 separate pieces (one behind the bed and one behind each bedside table) with curved corners at either end. This helped with the electrics and also added a bit of interest, without being too fussy.

This is a biggy! It really helped me to visualise by putting the MDF in place.

My measurements:
• 6mm MDF
• Centre: 234cm W × 122cm H
• Sides: 70cm W × 122cm H

The centre section is 14cm wider than the bed - 7cm on each side - so the duvet has room to fall neatly. The sides fit our bedside tables perfectly.

You also need to take into consideration the fabric width. Mine was 145cm wide, so making the headboard 122cm high (the width of the MDF - less work!) left enough fabric to wrap over the edges and staple securely at the back.

Taking the time to plan properly now will make the whole process much smoother.

When you’re happy, cut your MDF to size. We used a hand saw (a circular saw would have been quicker) and a jigsaw for the curved corners. We then added 1x2inch smooth planed timber around the edges, plus one piece through the centre. This gave the headboard extra strength and also ensured it would sit flush with the wall when we added the brackets.

We glued everything in place with wood adhesive and waited for it to set.

Using the same 2x1inch planed timber (to ensure the headboard sat flush against the wall) we made French cleats to hang the headboard to the wall.

To make one, cut the timber in half lengthways at a 45° angle using a circular saw, creating two pieces that slot together

One thing about me, I am gonna do a crappy sketch of what I want a room to look like and expect everyone to see the vision. Looking back at some of these, I don’t think I did a bad job 🙊

Let me know if you want to know where anything is from x

The sweetest video I didn’t record 🧡

I did a poll last week asking whether you’d seen this room before. There are so many new people here every day that I forget you might not have seen the rest of the house.

Anyway, I was looking for clips of this room and came across this video 🥹 i had no idea she’d done this.

I love how kids narrate the things around them. I suppose it’s no different from the little videos children have been making on family camcorders for years - I remember doing a tour of the bbq on my dads camcorder 🤣

& she’s not wrong. The colour of the door (@coatpaints smith and the devil) does goes so well with the @bedfolk dressing gown
