After three years at AUB, I’ve finally earned my Bachelor’s degree in Architecture with Honours, along with a RIBA nomination for my final-year work.

I couldn’t have done it without the support of my tutors and technicians throughout each year. A special thanks to @si.newell.art for overseeing my work every term—and for never forgetting I’m from Belfast. (If you didn’t know… I am. So I am.)

This project spans across each term, drawing inspiration from classical Renaissance works—studying compositional layouts, exploring the design process, and translating that into architectural form. It centres around a university for theatre arts, with a design that embodies theatricality through a constantly transforming façade—essentially, it’s always putting on a costume. The aim was to create a university that feels like a living painting. And what’s a painting without emotion and chaos?

The university was designed to reflect and support Bournemouth’s theatrical camp scene, which often lacks dedicated space. I interviewed AUB actors to help inform the process and included the personality of local drag artists to inject an element of camp into the design. In the main drawing a majority of the people involved in the project have their own place as a thanks. Merging these two voices shaped the final outcome—a space that’s not only inclusive, but built for the bold and the rising stars. For those told to break a leg.
