Postgraduate Summer Show 2026: AUB Talents Shine at Arts by the Sea Festival Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) proudly showcased its creative talent at the Arts by the Sea Festival 2026, bringing a vibrant array of community workshops, pop-up gallery exhibitions, displays, exhibits, live music, and sustainable fashion to Bournemouth town centre and the wider festival fringe. One of the highlights of the festival featured the exceptional work of Amanda Burch, an MA Historical Costume student. Amanda’s "Masque Mollymauk” costume and mask is part of our Postgraduate Summer Shows 2026, which is currently on show in The Gallery. The mask was a collaborative piece with Alex Ritzema, @ritzema__maker from BA (Hons) Modelmaking The costume and mask temporarily left The Gallery for two days to be exhibited live at the Arts by the Sea Festival 2026. The display generated immense excitement, giving public audiences a rare opportunity to get up close, interact directly with the costume, and mask and meet the designers and makers in person. It was a weekend full of creativity, culture, and community spirit. @aubstudentservices @aubreslife @aubsu @aubsuthebug @seegull.magazine @aubcommphoto @thegallery_aub @aubmodelmaking @aubinternational @aubfashioncommunication @aubgraphicdesign @aubfashion @aubillustration @aubinnovation @aubactors @aub.designers @inspiredaub @aubtextilesdesign @aubfilmproduction @aubarchitecture @aub_baphoto @academyaub @aub_viscom_cds @aub_createch @aubfineart @iadaub @costumeaub @foundationaub @aublibrary @modipaub @aubfutures @mybcpcouncil @aubdanceandmovement

GRINDFEST, BETWEEN THE SCREENS Back for part two! We’re sharing more of the brilliant photography captured by Abigail Corpuz-Gehevan, one of our Arts University Bournemouth students, at Arrow Video Presents Grindfest. From film chat and new friendships to the all-important caffeine and snack runs before the next screening, Abigail captured some of the action happening between the films. A different side of Grindfest, seen through Abigail’s lens. ❤️

We’re delighted to showcase the photography of Abigail Corpuz- Gehevan one of our Arts University Bournemouth students who captured these brilliant images from Arrow Video Presents Grindfest. We particularly love the way Abigail has captured the Grindfest Memory Wall — a record of the memories, stories and experiences that audiences bring with them to these films. The Memory Wall is part of the research led by Dr Kate Egan and the Horror Research Group, exploring audiences’ memories of seeing horror and cult films for the first time. Grindfest audiences were invited to share their memories of these films — and there were some pretty awesome stories! There were also a few memories we definitely can’t repeat here….....😉 Here are just some of the films that have screened over the last eight years on 35mm at Grindfest: 🎞️ They Live 🎞️ Eraserhead 🎞️ Suspiria 🎞️ The Return of Swamp Thing 🎞️ From Dusk Till Dawn 🎞️ Maximum Overdrive 🎞️ Creepshow 2 🎞️ The Hunger 🎞️ Rawhead Rex 🎞️ Alien 🎞️ Friday the 13th Part III 🎞️ The Thing 🎞️ Street Trash 🎞️ Dead End Drive-In 🎞️ Lifeforce 🎞️ The Terminator 🎞️ The Kindred 🎞️ House 🎞️ The Serpent and the Rainbow 🎞️ Repo Man 🎞️ Critters 🎞️ Escape from New York 🎞️ Society 🎞️ The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue 🎞️ The Last Starfighter 🎞️ The Fly 🎞️ The Keep 🎞️ Heavy Metal 🎞️ Dreamscape 🎞️ The Howling 🎞️ Xtro 🎞️ The Quiet Earth 🎞️ American Psycho 🎞️ Brainscan 🎞️ Parasite 🎞️ Videodrome 🎞️ Terminator 2: Judgment Day 🎞️ eXistenZ 🎞️ Vamp 🎞️ Basket Case 🎞️ Tenebrae 🎞️ Silver Bullet 🎞️ The People Under the Stairs 🎞️ The Wicker Man

Our second piece of work showcasing our AUB student team comes from Bertie Santabarbara. Bertie also took a look behind the scenes at Arrow Video Presents Grindfest, spending time in the projection room and getting a different perspective on what goes into bringing the festival’s films to the big screen. It was a great opportunity to explore an aspect of the festival that audiences don’t usually get to see, and we loved seeing Arrow Video Presents Grindfest through Bertie’s eyes.

Last Monday I had a brilliant conversation with Lizzie from @inspiredaub marketing team to talk about my Soundsystem which is now on their news feed. Once upon a time I was a student at AUB studying @aubmodelmaking and in recent years I returned to join the associate programme at the University's @aubinnovation studio to cut out lots of plywood for my speakers! This was a lovely opportunity to talk about my why, what, when and how! Massive thank you to Lizzie for her time and fantastic write up.

Been busy working away at this for months now. It is not yet ready to go but very close! After realising that redundancy + extended medical leave had left me far from being the most employable translator in Dorset, I decided to follow my dream and create my own language school instead. I set my mind to getting fluent in French as a plucky young teenager and got there in my early twenties.🇫🇷 Now I want to help others reach their language goals. This business venture is a real labour of love. With barely a few hundred quid left in the bank, it’s a bootstrap company and I have had to build it all myself. No help on the tech front, no AI, just me, and a lot of helpful YouTube videos and honestly I am very proud. Big thanks to @aubinnovation for keeping me on track and teaching me all I know about starting up!
