I am so grateful for the past 3 weeks at @sarasotaballetschool Summer Intensive! I met so many amazing people and I will miss all of you so so much 🫶

It's all about the intention you put behind the movement. The same steps can tell an entirely different story depending on the energy, texture, and purpose you bring to them. This combination was too good not to turn into a contemporary jazz phrase. It's not about changing the movement—it's about changing what you choose to portray.

"You Move Me, I Move You."

Today’s class explored the relationship between action and reaction through a simple task: I move you, then you move me. The goal was to maintain a continuous ebb and flow between partners, allowing movement to be generated through listening, responding, and shared momentum.

This type of practice is an important component of contemporary dance training. It develops kinesthetic awareness, sensitivity to weight and timing, spatial intelligence, and the ability to make compositional choices in real time.

I was especially impressed by the creativity of this group and their willingness to trust the process. What emerged was a series of unique movement conversations, each revealing a different approach to partnership, communication, and flow. We are really building well-rounded dancers at @sarasotaballetschool ❤️

It's always hard to see one of your students move on, but I am so incredibly happy for @audrey_mayernik and all of her growth and accomplishments since I started working with her almost three years ago as a Level 2 in our summer intensive. Now she's moving on to a Studio Company position with @louballet —what a giant leap in such a short amount of time!

The amount of hard work you've put into my classes and private lessons is truly unmatched. You will be missed dearly, but I couldn't be more proud of you.

You have inspired me to become a better teacher and pushed me to continue growing as a choreographer. Thank you for trusting me, working so hard, and sharing your artistry with all of us. I can't wait to see what this next chapter brings. ❤️🩰✨ #contemporary #contemporarydance
