“When you follow in the footsteps of giants, it’s really easy to feel small, but when you lean into what they did, and you pay attention to what came before you, they make it really easy to make an enormous impact.”

It has been an absolute honor to follow these giants! We actively and intentionally choose to carry on traditions that Coach Ols started 60 years ago. We continue investing in what was passed on to Coach Fred, Coach Doug, and our staff that’s been here over the years and are still here serving. We are proud to connect the culture of those that came through this program and those that are investing love and positivity into their athletes at the college and high school level elsewhere. The journey is the goal!

There’s nothing like a good cry in the morning… what a blessing it is to be on this journey and to have such great mentors like these.

Sometimes the best thing we can offer is good advice!

Last night we hosted “Trackademics” — intentional time for our first years to gather and discuss everything from sleep to nutrition, mindset to brain health, academics to relationships and learn from the experiences of so many great teammates and competitors that came before them.

Great advice comes from perspective & experience of those that lived it… when it comes to having an incredible college experience, who better to learn from than @charlotte.frere ! We were able to present her with her third consecutive @collsportscomm academic all-American honor and her academic all-American of the year award as well.

I’m so grateful to have these first years here, living their journey with us at @augustana_illinois and @augietfxc !

Remember, you have permission to be who *YOU* want to be, and to make this an incredible time in your life! Go get it!

A process that took me over 20 years to find…

This past season was one of the most enjoyable and memorable times of my life! The way our team connected, the way our staff came together, and the way we created deep roots of love and trust brought so much positivity.

I come back to a few themes and important questions that helped guide us through it — now I refer to it as the ABCs of and/or CPR for our culture.

…I hope it can help you and those you serve find as much joy as it did me/us!

COMMITMENT! ✍️
——
One of our very last track & field commitments of the year to announce — and it’s none other than @anitahamkalo ! 💫
——
Anita is a multi-event athlete with a primary focus on pole vault, who we first got in touch with around a year and a half ago. Now, she’s trading @ikymerfriidrott in Borås for Rock Island, Illinois, where an exciting new chapter awaits at beautiful @augustana_illinois 😎
——
Augustana is a school we’ve built a great relationship with over many years, and this year is no exception as Anita joins and strengthens @augietfxc. Along with a great athletic environment, Augustana also offers strong academics — making it a perfect fit all around! 🤗
——
Huge congratulations, Anita! It’s been a pleasure working together, and I’m really happy we found what you were looking for. Now, make sure to enjoy every moment of your college adventure! 🇺🇸
