Unplugged with Meno — this time at Aunty’s in Awanui ❤️ A good catch-up! Kai, connection and Te Taitokerautanga were all on the menu and most importantly the type of kōrero that reminds you how much connection matters. Ngā mihi to everyone who came through, shared their whakaaro and made the time to sit down kanohi ki te kanohi. These are the moments I value — listening, learning and connecting with our people. A special mihi to our beautiful host Damaris @auntysinawanui for having us. Always good to see our local pakihi creating spaces where people can come together. If you’re in the area, show them some aroha and support local or give them a follow 🤎 @auntysinawanui @therealnessworld

🌿 The Practice of Arriving The kōrero from our wāhine has been coming through, and I’ve been listening. From that kōrero, I’m really excited to open these spaces for The Practice of Arriving. This practice is an invitation to slow down enough to notice where we are, reconnect with the body and breath, and create space to simply arrive. A space to move. A space to breathe. A space to be still. A space to reconnect with ourselves, with one another and with the whenua. There is nothing you need to achieve here. Nothing you need to prove. You don’t have to arrive feeling a certain way. Come as you are. All women are welcome here. Come as you are, wherever you come from and whatever has brought you to this space. You are welcome to arrive, breathe, move and simply be. 🤍 I’m really looking forward to holding these spaces at Hāititaimarangai Marae over the coming weeks and sharing the practice with you. 🌿 Upcoming Practices Saturday 24 October | 2–4pm Sunday 25 October | 10am–12pm Saturday 7 November | 2–4pm Sunday 8 November | 10am–12pm Saturday 14 November | 2–4pm Sunday 15 November | 10am–12pm 📍 Hāititaimarangai Marae Spaces are limited. To join us, use the “Book The Practice of Arriving” link in my bio to choose your date and secure your space. If you have any questions or would like to kōrero before booking, send me a PM. Come as you are. Return to yourself. 🌿

If it was urgent enough for a traffic light system, it's urgent enough for our mothers. Not long ago, Aotearoa passed the law behind a nationwide traffic light system in a single day, one that set the rules for who could walk into a café, a gym or a hairdresser. Our mothers are being asked to wait until 2029. A three-day postnatal stay has just passed into law here. Up from 48 hours, and a good step. But it won't be fully available until July 2029, and a mother's healing doesn't stop when she leaves the ward. It runs for weeks and months, mostly at home, and that's where so many māmā are left without enough support. The leading cause of maternal death in Aotearoa is mental health related, and wāhine Māori carry the heaviest load. Three more years is too long. So if you're hapū right now, don't wait for the system. Postpartum support is preventative, which means it needs to be in place before baby arrives. Line up your village. Kai in the freezer. Someone to hold baby so you can sleep. People who ask how you are. A plan for the hard days before they arrive. Build it in your own four walls and within your whakapapa Tag a māmā who needs to see this.

I haven't really advertised this before, but if you spend over $100 on my store 👇 https://www.momo.fashion/ You'll receive a free complimentary hand made by me unique tote bag, sometimes matching your outfits. For me, I believe this create less waste, so you're not having to throw away tissue paper, & also more crudely someone said to me once at a market, that tissue paper should only be for 💩😝 Thats sparked ⚡️my creativity!! 🤩😜🙌 #fashion #smallbusiness #fashion #fashiondesigner #packingorders #creative #sewing #fyp
