Daylight savings time goes into effect in Italy and the rest of the EU on October 25th. Clocks go back an hour, from 3 am to 2 am. Not every country observes Daylight Savings - Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Syria, Yemen, Congo, Sudan, Iran, Afghanistan, Syria, and Myanmar do not, for example, and Morocco abolished it just last month! And not every country observing DST changes their time on the same day - for example, Lebanon and Palestine fall back on October 24, Egypt on October 29, and the US and Canada on November 1. The European Commission has proposed ending DST for the EU, and while surveys of public opinion show that the majority are in favor, the proposal has been stalled in the Council of the European Union. Does your country (or countries!) observe DST? Tell us in the comments!

Getting ready to meet our alumni? Here’s your quick checklist to make the most of the event: Do your research: Take a few minutes to review your alum’s bio or LinkedIn profile. Get familiar with their career path, current role, and experience. Prepare questions: Come with a few thoughtful questions about their industry, career journey, skills, or advice they would give to someone starting out. Be ready to introduce yourself: Have a short introduction ready: who you are, what you’re studying, and what you’re interested in exploring professionally. Trying out your elevator pitch would be the best! Be professional: Arrive on time, dress appropriately, be engaged in the conversation, and remember that this is also a networking opportunity. Make a positive first impression! Most importantly, be curious, engaged, and open to learning. This is a great opportunity to connect with alumni and learn from their experiences beyond AUR. See you tomorrow!

Networking doesn’t have to be intimidating. How do you introduce yourself? Start a conversation? Turn a quick introduction into a meaningful professional connection? These were just some of the questions our students explored during a networking workshop organized by AUR’s Student Government and Careers Office, with guest speakers from the Professional Women’s Association. From practical tips to real-world insights, the afternoon was all about building confidence, making connections, and taking those first steps into the professional world. A big thank you to our guests for sharing their experiences and answering students’ questions! Interested in more opportunities like this? Get in touch with the @aurcareers or @aur_student_gov to learn about upcoming workshops and events! #careers #workshops #rome #italy #networking
