2025 was one of the most challenging years I can remember. Mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I’ve never experienced more change in a single calendar year. It was a year clouded with fear and uncertainty. And yet, it was one of the most transforming years of my life.

Fear has a way of keeping you stagnant. Stuck in the same cycles that keep us comfortable. The truth is many of you are only 1 or 2 decisions away from changing your entire life. Everything you want is on the other side of fear. God has a plan for all of us. We often think our own plans are better when really they’re just safer in the moment. I had my own plans. God laughed. He gave me 7 long years playing the game I love professionally. And in an instant he took it all away…and it was the best thing that could’ve ever happened. The amount of doors and opportunities He’s opened for me never would’ve been possible otherwise.

When God says listen, LISTEN. When God says move, MOVE. Stop caring what people think about you. Forgive others. Forgive yourself. Let go. Have some faith. And you’ll never be the same.

For Smoov
At a young age, Michael was one of the wisest men I knew. He taught me the importance of valuing the art form that is music. I remember him introducing me to Kendrick Lamar’s music when I first met him in Houston. He played the song ‘Rigamortus’ repeatedly and we’d sit and break down each lyric. I’d watch as he’d passionately and hilariously explain how crazy each bar was. In my mind I just kept thinking, ‘this guy is hilarious’ 😂. Whether he was discussing music or educating us on his faith in Jesus, He just had a perspective and a way about him that stayed with you even after he left the room. It’s stayed with me even now and I often remember him when I’m rapping wondering what he’d think about it all. He has always been an inspiration to me and I’m glad I got to honor him in this small way all these years later with this cover. I hope this would’ve made him smile.

Applause in Rainfall is out now on EVEN and everywhere Dec. 1st. Links are in the bio.
