EACC IS ON THE RADIO for the @kut_austin Get Involved Spotlight for the month of February! Sign up for a volunteer shift at one of our upcoming community events or listen to the KUT 98.9 radio spot with @staciesheasays @stephanieatxfound and @aurora_tay at the link in our bio! “It’s an important space that we hold where we can just come and be human together, and enjoy what Austin is.” - Stacie Williams, Director of Programming “I am a third generation East Austinite, and when I was younger, I could hear music from my bedroom. And I now know it was Kenny Dorham’s Backyard that I could hear.” - Taylor Harris, Manager of Operations & Programming “So much of what we do is done by volunteers. We have so many areas where we constantly need help. Even though we are grateful for the volunteers we have now, we have to build upon that because we are growing.” - Stephanie Donahue, Director of Communications & Outreach They shared what they love about @eastaustincreativecoalition and the driving mission to support African American artists, musicians, and cultural workers in East Austin’s African American Cultural Heritage District. Stacie states, “We are in the business of preserving arts, culture, and history in Austin, Tx, with a specialization in African American, Black, Blues, Jazz, and Heart & Soul Austin music and arts… Things that everybody loves is - music, most people like to look at pretty things, most people like to eat and hang out - so we create a space where those things can happen.” How to get involved, volunteer or support our work: - pick up a shift at one of our upcoming community events at the link in our bio - send us an email at programming@eastaustincreatives.org - visit our website eastaustincreatives.org - say hello in person at the Blue Monday Blues Jam (finishing up our winter season at King Bee! We’ll be back in our backyard again soon!)

One of the highlights of the night was the Best Dressed Guest competition and the looks did not disappoint! A big congratulations to @genuinesparkle (frame 1) for taking 1st place in our best dressed guest competition🥳 And we’d like to congratulate @trishabearr (frame 2) for a very close 2nd place finish!🥂 It was so much fun seeing all of the beautiful styles throughout the evening. We received a lot of feedback on how nice it was to get dressed up in Austin and that warms our hearts. We’re commuted to doing our part so stay tuned!🥳 📸: @beautyincadence

Today is Giving Tuesday, and we’re asking you to show up for the place that has shown up for so many. Support us at the link in bio! Video produced and edited by @phrol_aye Filmed by @visionsbygsix and @phrol_aye EACC, a grassroots cultural heritage preservation non-profit, is rooted in the historic African American Cultural Heritage District. We are here to preserve the stories, spaces, and voices that shaped East Austin long before it was a trendy destination, and to ensure Black creativity continues to lead the future of this community. Your gift today directly supports: • Historic preservation of East Austin’s African American cultural heritage • Opportunities for Black artists to produce and share new work • The music of East Austin through regular concerts at Kenny Dorham’s Backyard • Joy, belonging, and cultural conversation with our neighbors When you give to EACC, you’re not just donating to an organization. You are investing in a cultural home. You’re helping Black artists make work here. You’re keeping East Austin’s music alive. You’re protecting the soul of a district that deserves to be honored, not overwritten. We have an ambitious goal to raise $50,000 this season to directly support artists and musicians with paid opportunities. Even $25 helps us keep the Backyard stage lit and our artists supported. If you’re able to give more, you help us go further. If not, share this with your friends! Thank you for standing with East Austin Creative Coalition
