Only posting about 2nd semester of freshman year because it’s the one that mattered the most to me. I think the biggest thing I learned about being in college is that it’s okay to not be okay. It’s okay to struggle and be alone. What’s not is okay is to give up and to stop doing good for yourself. I spent my last 4 months of freshman year not only by myself, but with some amazing people that are now my lovely friends. I couldn’t thank them all enough for loving me for who I am. Cheers to 1/4 of college down! 😜

This post is way overdue, but I really wanted to take time and reflect on this past dance season, especially my Senior Capstone. “Unbroken: Through the Fractures, We Heal” is a dance performance that I choreographed to embody the elements of the healing process. This past year, I had gone through one of the most heartbreaking moments of my life. I experienced loss, confusion, anger, sadness, and finally forgiveness. I wanted to create pieces that represented each step in the healing process.

The first piece, “The Way” was inspired by a song that is one of my mom’s favorites. This piece delves into the emotional journey of a person who feels as though their world is crumbling, and they are standing alone in their struggle. It is a story of resilience, revealing that even in our brokenness, small steps forward lead us through the healing process.

The second piece “Till It Happens to You” represents the second stage of the healing process. The piece reflects the internal struggle of grieving while trying to meet outside expectations, offering a glimpse into the difficulty of moving forward when your heart is still broken.

The third piece, “I Forgive You” represents the pivotal stage of forgiveness in the release that comes with accepting what has happened and letting go of the past. I remember many times I asked God for forgiveness for others, but also for myself in order to truly move on. I wanted this piece to embody the release and freedom that comes with forgiveness.

The fourth piece “Home” is a piece dedicated to my family and friends who have always been my home. This piece represents the last step in the healing process that captures the relief of being understood and embraced, symbolizing the strength and peace that comes from unconditional love and support.

Lastly, I was able to choreograph a duet with my best friend @sophielebron called, “Wildflower”. Being able to choreograph and take the stage with my best friend one last time is a memory that I will hold close to my heart forever.

Thank you to my family, friends, cast, faculty and the @hputheaterdance department for always believing in me. I couldn’t have done it without all of you 💌.

if you’ve been around me this second half of the semester, you know it’s been filled with grim, but not in the way you’d think. i had the privilege of producing a short film for my class with the most amazing group of people i have ever encountered. this film challenged me in the best way possible and i have learned so much. i still get starstruck when i get to see such amazing visions come to life and i am honored to say grim is officially finished and published to youtube. check it out in the link in my bio and never forget to give heaven a little hell :)
