$This past weekend I completed my first triathlon as Dr. Taylor Ward PT, DPT!👩🏻‍⚕️🏊‍♀️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♀️ So much to be proud of recently! After 6 years at Marquette, I am saying goodbye with a heart full of hundreds of memories, tons of laughter, and forever friends made. Made possible by my incredible support system who got me through the tough exams and long nights at the library. The journey continues in Chicago…with an open mind and much more to learn as a clinician. As for the race, 6 months ago it was an unrealistic fantasy when I got diagnosed with a foot stress fracture. The dreaded “SF word” followed me for 4 grueling months of no running so I decided to dive into learning how to swim and bike properly. After getting clearance for a very very slow running progression, I dove into rehab head first and put those doctor skills to use. Through LOTS of setbacks and a whole lot of doubt, I slowly found myself falling back in love with running and with the concept of challenging my body again. Raceday was approached with a calm head and gratefulness of the ability to even get to compete, ending with a shocking time blowing my goal out of the water and getting 1st in my division. Lots of lessons to still figure out, like how to bike at headwind without almost tipping over, how to speed up transitions, and how to find my rhythm when swimming in a freezing cold lake. Here’s to learning new things, continuing to grow in all aspects of life, craving the competition, and enjoying the ride!🥂😉$
