LOOKING WITHIN TO WORK BETTER WITH OTHERS ✨ Our mentors previously shared how their cultural identities inform their practice. Now, our participants began exploring their own. Our visit to the Immigration Museum gave participants space to reflect on how culture, history and lived experience shape who we are, how we work and how we connect with others. As arts workers, this self-awareness is an important part of understanding and supporting POC artists and creating culturally responsive spaces. From understanding ourselves, to understanding others, to becoming more thoughtful and culturally responsive arts workers. These reflections will inform the development of a multisensory exhibition at our public outcome in November, while giving participants hands-on experience in production, stage management and event management. Who we are shapes how we work.
