Glad to share that my two projects, FREE-FLOATING JELLYFISH and MIRROR FLAKES, will be shown in an upcoming exhibition called Auspicious Eight, curated by @jinnyly. Opening night is on the 12 February from 6pm to 9pm in @flux_dublin.

Auspicious Eight is a contemporary art exhibition featuring artists who celebrate the Lunar New Year. We’re an artist-led, community oriented exhibition in our third year. A8 provides an environment of opportunistic growth and community building in addition to mentorship and hands-on experiences with putting together an exhibition.

Everyone is welcomed to the exhibition! I’m excited to see you all there!

Thank you to everyone who came out and visited @auspicious.eight this year <3 and thank you for all the love, support and appreciation for all the artists and community. We had about 400 visitors since our opening night, which is a great turnout despite the storm. I've been pretty exhausted with my son's bday, running/organising the exhibition and working (teaching workshops) so I've been pretty quiet on social media lately. After taking a few days off I'll get back to posting some behind the scenes of A8 and continue archiving my work and thoughts.

Thank you to @flux_dublin for hosting us and @jennykeogh for being absolutely amazing. Thanks @35mm.ploy for taking over the social media stress for the exhibition and @yuwen_letters for your graphic design skills (I have less white hair this year). Thank you @kiki_na_art and @ducvanphamart for your support, cheers, expertise and love. Thank you to all the artists for participating in the show and meeting with me over the past few months. And thank you @jiemeimeichin for speaking at the opening. :) and also thank you to everyone who purchased work and supported our artists. Also, thanks to @dublinlunarny for their support and organisation of the Lunar New Year festivities. And finally, thank you again for joining me on my curatorial journey.
.
We'll be back again next year :). I've already started working on the dates for next year's show lol.

Join us for the opening night of Auspicious Eight: Wood Snake Edition on Thursday, January 23rd from 6pm to 8pm for an exciting exhibition showcasing twelve contemporary artists who celebrate the Lunar New Year. Enjoy an evening of tea, snacks, music, and meet the illustrators, poets, painters, sculptors and photographers behind this enriching artist-led show.

Curated by Jinny Ly, Auspicious Eight began as a celebration of contemporary artists connected to the Lunar New Year, with the simple premise of treating the Lunar New Year as a normalised holiday in Dublin. What if the Lunar New Year were as widely recognised here as St. Patrick’s Day is in other countries? Since its debut in February 2024, the exhibition has evolved into a vibrant community with emerging and established artists supporting one another, transcending the holiday itself.

Opening Night Details:

Date: Thursday, 23 January 2025
Time: 6pm to 8pm
Location: Flux, 4 Chatham Rd, Dublin 2, D02 PA06

The exhibition will run from the 25th to 31st of January (closed Monday the 27th). Please share this invitation with friends and fellow art lovers. See you at the opening!
